With registration open until February 2, the third edition continues to train talents to develop technical skills to work as a technical writer in the technology market

VTEX, a digital commerce platform for large companies and retailers, a leader in accelerating the transformation of commerce in Latin America and now expanding globally, is open for registration for the third edition of the Black Tech Writer, a free training program for black and brown professionals with an interest in technology and an affinity for writing for the web. The 30 participants will have the opportunity to develop technical skills to act as technical writer, or technical writer), participate in mentoring and increase the network of contact with professionals in the segment to establish contact with other black professionals. Applications can be made until February 2, at this link.
“The main focus of the course is to promote the insertion of black people in the technology market, in a discipline that is in full growth in Brazil and Latin America. Throughout Black Tech Writer, we show basic elements of technical writing and help participants face possible insecurities that prevent them from developing and demonstrating all their talent, as well as encouraging them to actively participate in the future we are building together in the tech sector.” , explains Gustavo Figueredo, technical writer at VTEX and one of the creators of the project.
Although already consolidated in North America and Europe, the profession of Technical Writer is still new in Brazil. By focusing on the passion for writing and the desire to transmit knowledge, it is common to attract people from different academic backgrounds such as Administration, Biology, Mechatronics Engineering, Journalism, among others. In general, those who are interested can learn to develop themselves in web application documentation, system configurations, APIs, among other important functions for the day-to-day work in this area.
With a duration of six weeks and asynchronous format, the course is 100% online and carried out through the Google Classroom platform, including mentoring sessions and some live classes. Participants are introduced to the technical writing processes and have contact with the journey of black employees at VTEX, from the most different areas, such as design, product, engineering and HR.
“The Black Tech Writer was my gateway to a new career in technology. I participated in the first class of the course and was able to experience much more than technical writing methods and tools for tech writers. I had the opportunity to meet other black professionals from other areas of VTEX, I was able to reflect on their incredible trajectories and bet on new possibilities for my future”, says Mariana Caetano, graduated in Architecture and Urbanism and Technical Writer in VTEX.
To introduce Black Tech Writer to those who still don't know the program and clear up any doubts from candidates, VTEX promotes, next Saturday (29), at 11 am (GMT) a live on its channel on YouTube.
About Black Tech Writer
The Black Tech Writer was created with the aim of training professionals and making the technology market more inclusive, in a scenario where most technology teams in Brazil have less than 10% of black people (data from #QuemCodaBR – PretaLab and ThoughtWorks – 2019). The course is free and provides the development of the necessary skills to start a career as a technical writer, through classes, mentoring sessions and opportunities to contact professionals in the field. In the first two editions, both in 2021, 40 professionals participated in the program, some of whom became VTEX employees, a condition not established by the program.
