Ela Empoder@ Program is Microsoft's newest partner in the mission to increase women's participation in the technology market
In yet another joint initiative with Microsoft, Softex, through the Ela Empoder@ program, its female entrepreneurship and diversity arm, is working to strengthen female representation in technology.
This new effort takes place through the partnership signed with the digital platform MoreWomen.Tech and with the WoMakersCode technology community. Its objective is to train 100,000 women throughout Brazil through technical courses and career guidance to promote employability in the industry.
According to data from the Special Report on Female Entrepreneurship in Brazil, released last year by Sebrae, 48% of MEIs (Individual Microentrepreneurs) are women. However, in the IT sector, female participation is still small: only 20% of the workforce in the formal information technology market are women, according to the survey “Women in IT”, carried out by Softex.
MaisMulheres.Tech brings together six free and online training tracks for women who are in the technology market or in career transition. These are: Cloud Computing, Infrastructure, Information Security, DevOps, Data Science and Development, and Artificial Intelligence. Lasting between 4 and 8 hours, all courses are taught by women and guarantee participants a declaration of completion. After completing the registration, classes must be completed within 30 days.
“To address this disparity between men and women in the technology market, we need to expand opportunities for training and career building in this sector. At Softex, we believe in the power of diversity and female entrepreneurship as a driver of empowerment. IT vacancies grew by 310% last year, there is a high demand for work and companies are interested in betting on new professionals. There has never been a more favorable time for us to face this gap in the female presence in the technology area”, says Rayanny Nunes, innovation manager at the entity.
