Deployed environment supports all critical applications. With Nutanix, the institution's processing capacity was doubled, taking up 80% less space and reducing energy costs

Nutanix's Hyperconvergence solutions were fundamental for Hospital Sírio-Libanês to increase the availability of its Information Technology infrastructure. The institution saved around 70% in licenses and energy consumption compared to the previous architecture, increased resilience and scalability, supporting all of the institution's critical applications. The project was implemented and supported by Add Value, an integrator specialized in cloud technologies, hyperconvergence, networking, security and virtualization.

The excellence of Sírio-Libanês is the result of more than a century of experience. Since the hospital's inauguration in 1965, a high-tech structure, with specialized teams, investment in teaching and research and several pioneering and innovative initiatives have strengthened the institution every year for the best diagnosis, treatment, health promotion and quality of people's lives. Currently, more than 100 thousand patients are served per year in its ten units located in São Paulo (SP) and Brasília (DF).

To support this robust operation, the Hospital needs infrastructure with capacity, efficiency and availability. In total, there are 38 nodes where all of Sírio’s critical mission services run 24x7x365. With Nutanix, processing capacity doubled using 80% less space, without the need to expand the team and reducing energy and physical infrastructure costs.

“Together with the cloud-hosted environment, the resilience of Nutanix Hyperconvergence is present in the hospital, including supporting the integration bus. Everything is contained in this backbone that we created with Nutanix. The tool works as a truly structuring service, being a balancing act for all other applications, even those not hosted on it”, says Milena Milei, Infrastructure and IT Services Manager at Hospital Sírio Libanês.

With Nutanix, it was possible to build an automated environment, with more than 400 virtual servers, allowing all essential applications to run in the infrastructure. From authentication and internet services, to servers and platforms, providing an infrastructure that delivers performance and security for the operation.

“The solution has an aggressive cost-benefit ratio in relation to the market, and the entire implementation was carried out without any trauma, including the migration, with full support from Add Value during the process. Today we have a much more resilient environment, where we can produce more, spending less, taking up little space and with simplified management”, explains Thiago Ferreira, IT Infrastructure and Services coordinator at Hospital Sírio-Libanês.

The Sírio-Libanês IT team also reports that, with the Nutanix project carried out by Add Value, even backup has become simpler and with less latency, despite the large volume of data. Furthermore, the reestablishment of services became faster and the stability of the entire ecosystem was achieved, resulting in a 90% decrease in the number of incident calls and the achievement of availability targets that are quite aggressive (above 99.96% ), in addition to increasing trust in the environment towards leaders and management.

“Sírio is a reference in Latin America and the world when we talk about Health. To this end, the investments that the institution constantly makes in technology, mainly in infrastructure, are essential to support an extremely critical environment that needs to perform uninterruptedly. We are honored to participate in projects with this level of excellence”, says Thiago Spósito, partner at Add Value. “All the projects we carry out are special, however, those that involve people’s lives and well-being make us even more proud”, he adds.
