Siemens Digital Industries Software announced a partnership with Tangent Works to provide easy-to-use artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities that will help you derive greater value from IoT data. New AI for Everybody solution incorporates Tangent Works InstantML technology capabilities into MindSphere®, Siemens' industrial IoT service solution, enabling users to immediately use IoT data collected by MindSphere to generate new insights without the need for complex management training models.
Many organizations still struggle to implement their digital transformation projects and use IoT data with advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) technologies. Machine learning offers fantastic industrial applications, but it often requires in-depth knowledge of advanced statistics and how they are applied in industrial settings. Additionally, data science experts have become a scarce and expensive resource.
“We see major investments in digital transformation and AI as companies prepare for post-Covid-19 operations. Even before the pandemic, our research showed that the shortage of digital talent, particularly in IT and data science, was the biggest challenge for companies looking to implement IoT, Industry 4.0 and AI initiatives,” said Knud Lasse Lueth, CEO of IoT Analytics. “This challenge will worsen in the coming years and most companies simply won't find experts to build machine learning models and integrate them into daily operations. Companies that cannot find or pay for these highly specialized digital employees will turn to low-code software tools to empower non-technical employees, so-called citizen developers.”
Using Tangent Works' InstantML technology as an integrated component of MindSphere gives industrial users the ability to quickly add AI capabilities to their MindSphere applications and solutions. With this approach, IoT data stored in MindSphere can be immediately used to generate actionable insights and prescriptive tools, enabling important uses in industry such as predictive maintenance, performance optimization, quality management, and energy management.
“We have always believed in the potential of our InstantML technology for industrial data,” said Henk De Metsenaere, one of the founders of Tangent Works. “Now that Siemens, the true leader in this market, has partnered with Tangent Works, this potential can be expanded. The combination of Siemens’ MindSphere technology and Tangent Works’ InstantML technology will change the way industrial data is used, and this will benefit many Siemens customers.”
“With the AI for Everybody solution and the integration of Tangent Works' InstantML technology, customers and partners can now quickly and easily extend the capabilities of MindSphere to transform data into actionable insights and real value,” said Raymond Kok, Senior Vice President of Cloud Application Solutions at Siemens Digital Industries Software. “With the ability to use AI/ML to generate hyper-automated predictive analytics, even citizen data scientists can use data and gain immediate insights at scale. These technologies will reduce complexity and put the power of IoT data in the hands of the user.”
