A survey by the hosting multinational HostGator mapped which Brazilian sectors have the greatest online presence

Today, there is a consensus that the digitization of services is essential to keep companies of different sizes and niches alive. With that in mind, a survey carried out by the HostGator platform, a multinational website hosting and domain registration, sought to understand the sectors with the greatest digital presence in 2022. Among more than 12 thousand respondents, 41% were in the service sector, followed by education (13%) and health (12%). Most participating companies (70%) earn up to R$ 30,000 annually and 36% have their website up for one to three years, which can show the advancement of micro-enterprises and self-employed in the digital environment after the beginning of the pandemic. The survey also had the participation of other areas: Others (19%), Fashion (5%), Marketing and Communication (3%) and Food (3%).

Another highlight of the survey was the amount that companies plan to invest in the online pillar this year — 23% claimed to reserve between R$ 10 thousand and R$30 thousand for this purpose. On the other hand, the majority (63%) intend to invest less than R$10 thousand. “Online presence is important for a good strategy. In addition to helping brand visibility, many purchases start in this environment, so a well-structured page can be the difference between converting or not converting a sale”, explains Robledo Ribeiro, CEO and founder of HostGator in Brazil. Among the businesses on the rise, 8% of those in the education sector talk about investing between R$ 50 thousand and R$ 500 thousand in 2022. In the services and health niche, 7% of respondents from each of these sectors intend to invest in the same value range.

For Ribeiro, the data collected helps to understand the current scenario of the online strategy of Brazilian businesses. “From our side as HostGator, we want to deliver even more tools and solutions to be a definitive part of their success journey, from secure website hosting to professional development courses”, he says.

The change in the thinking and behavior of small entrepreneurs is also being observed: 79% of the respondents consider the website very important (18%), important (19%) or fundamental (42%) for their sales. On top of that, 50% of them are with the company growing — 41% claimed to have expanded by up to 30% in 2021 and 9% more than that milestone.
