The program aims to solve agribusiness challenges through the use of open innovation. To participate, startups must apply by May 15
The Silo Hub, an initiative created by Embrapa and Neo Ventures, aims to solve agribusiness challenges through open innovation. For this, the Hub launches two challenges that will be faced by the sponsoring companies and will connect them to new projects and ventures (startups) capable of solving the proposals. To participate, startups must apply by May 15. The evaluation and selection of proposals will be carried out mainly taking into account adherence to the challenges. The selected startups will have the possibility of investing to develop the proof of concept (POC), in addition to the support of the Silo Hub team, technical visits, professionalization of management and growth. The first challenge is Nestlé, which seeks to solve the question: how to implement an efficient and economically viable system for biodigestion of animal waste and production of biogas on small farms?
Nestlé is a food and beverage company whose main suppliers are small milk producers. When considering the environmental impact of livestock during production management, the generation of waste is one of the three largest contributors to the emission of Greenhouse Gases (GHG).
In this context, the challenge seeks ways to transform such objects into something of value for small producers, reducing the emission and carbon footprint of milk production. It is important that it be an efficient and economically viable system for the biodigestion of waste and biogas production, in addition to its use. The expectation is for a scalable solution capable of spreading its use among producers, positively impacting the final bill of GHG emissions in dairy production, acting efficiently in the generation of clean energy, without making the process onerous.
The second challenge is Belgo Bakaert Arames, which aims to solve the issue: how to integrate technological solutions in cattle management?
Operating in the Brazilian wire manufacturing market for over 20 years, the company seeks to innovate in strategic partnerships in relation to the management of grazing cattle. Today, many ranchers still use strategies with low technology adoption. Consequently, there is no documentation or centralization of herd information.
In this context, the challenge is to search for solutions capable of carrying out the survey and centralization of information in a cattle breeding system through technologies that allow decision-making based on data. Thus, we will allow the strategic visualization of the current scenario of the farm and the follow-up of processes throughout the cattle production chain.
Silo Hub is supported by: Belgo Bakaert Arames, Nestlé, Microsoft, Sistema OCB and TIM.
