The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation and the Financier of Studies and Projects (Finep), in partnership with the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC) and the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), launched this Thursday (31), the Mais Inovação Brasil program. The initiative adds up to R$66 billion in investments in companies' innovation projects by 2026. Of the total amount, R$41 billion will come from the Fund National Fund for Scientific and Technological Development (FNDCT), with R 16 billion are non-reimbursable resources. The value relative to the credit will have the lowest nominal interest in history for innovation: 4%.

“More Innovation Brazil combines a series of support instruments for companies”, explained minister Luciana Santos during the launch of the program at Fiesp. “With the resources of the FNDCT, we will support projects of high technological risk through economic subsidy in amounts never before operated and strengthen the much needed integration of companies with universities, of science with innovation.”

“In order to innovate, you need resources and credit at a compatible cost. The program will give a great impulse to leverage the industry”, added the vice-president and minister of the MDIC, Geraldo Alckmin.

Resources will be invested in projects aligned with the missions established by the National Council for Industrial Development and the Structuring Axes of the New National Strategy for Science, Technology and Innovation, defined by the MCTI.

The program is aligned with the principles of environmental sustainability, including topics such as decarbonization, energy transition and social development, while seeking social inclusion and job and income generation.

According to BNDES Project Planning and Structuring director, Nelson Barbosa, the program provides for the development of new drugs, green hydrogen, sustainable mobility, in addition to technology parks and incubators. “It is a joy to resume the industrialization policy. Industry and innovation go together. BNDES returned to support innovation, in partnership with Finep and in coordination with MCTI policies”, he said.

“Finep is prepared and, from the point of view of human capital, has the experience to overcome challenges and help in this new moment of neo-industrialization”, commented the president of Finep, Celso Pansera.
