Technology is being used to encode 2.9 million lines of code, and professionals have accepted, on average, 42% of the suggestions.
Localiza&Co, one of the largest and most comprehensive mobility solutions platforms in the world, is transforming the way it develops software by incorporating Microsoft's generative AI into its engineering processes. With the adoption of GitHub Copilot, the company achieved an average productivity gain of 21%, allowing its developers to dedicate more time to strategic activities and solving business challenges.
Since October 2023, the company has been using the technology to support code creation in various projects. Currently, more than 450 unique users per week utilize GitHub Copilot in their development workflow, with integration into the Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, and JetBrains IDEs, primarily in languages such as C#, Python, and TypeScript.
Present in more than seven countries in South America and with a fleet exceeding 600,000 vehicles, Localiza&Co has adopted artificial intelligence as a pillar to scale efficiency and agility in a high-demand technological environment. Throughout this journey, the company has observed consistent progress in team interaction with the tool: the average acceptance rate of code suggestions, which ranged between 35% and 36%, recently reached 42%, reflecting greater maturity in the use of AI and adherence to the company's code context.
“When we talk about productivity, it’s not just about speeding up code writing. We are expanding our developers” ability to dedicate themselves to more strategic business challenges, with greater depth, quality, and collaboration. This translates into more efficient and customized solutions for our clients,” says André Petenussi, CTO of Localiza & Co.”
Structured implementation and proven impact.
The adoption of GitHub Copilot was conducted gradually and in a structured manner. Initially, Localiza&Co carried out a pilot project to compare the performance of teams using AI with those still working in a traditional way. The results were clear: in addition to an average gain of 21% in productivity, developers gave the solution an NPS of 52 and an experience score of 85/100.
With the results validated, the company expanded the use of the tool throughout the organization, supporting adoption with engagement initiatives, sharing of best practices, and continuous monitoring of usage and satisfaction metrics.
“Generative AI is already a structural part of our software engineering. Our focus is on ensuring governance, security, and responsible use, while simultaneously increasing productivity, collaboration, and quality,” Petenussi emphasizes.
AI agents increase the complexity of deliveries.
The consolidation of AI use is reflected in the volume of code generated with the support of the technology. By March 2025, Localiza&Co had already accounted for more than one million lines of code edited with generative AI — a number that recently reached 2.9 million lines.
Among the most recent advancements is the use of GitHub Copilot's agent mode, capable of acting as a virtual assistant in more complex tasks. Based on a natural language instruction, the agent can structure multiple files, generate tests, and organize the execution plan, always under the supervision of developers. In practice, this raises the level of abstraction in technical work and allows professionals to focus increasingly on strategic decisions and solving business problems.
“Microsoft studies point to the emergence of so-called Frontier Firms, companies that operate at the forefront of innovation by combining human work with AI agents. Localiza&Co is a concrete example of this model, gaining agility, efficiency, and expanding the impact of its teams' work,” highlights Joana Moura, Vice President for Corporate Clients at Microsoft Brazil.
By integrating GitHub Copilot into its development process, Localiza&Co reinforces its commitment to innovation, efficiency, and operational excellence, using generative AI as a lever to scale results and strengthen its delivery capacity.
