In a world where urbanization is advancing rapidly and urban challenges are becoming increasingly complex, the search for innovative solutions for the development of smart cities is more urgent than ever. To deepen this vital discussion, the Brazilian Association of Software Companies (ABES) is organizing a live event on the theme “Fostering Innovation for the Development of Smart Cities” on June 26, 2025, at 8:30 am. The event will bring together experts to explore the various facets of fostering innovation and its importance in building more efficient, inclusive and sustainable urban environments.
According data from the German consultancy Statista, the global market for smart city solutions is booming. In 2025, the United States is expected to lead investments, with US$27.6 billion, followed by China, with US$18.61 billion. In the Latin American context, Brazil is emerging as the leader, with investment estimates of US$1.35 billion. These figures demonstrate the growing relevance of technological solutions in urban planning and management and reinforce the need to foster innovation.
The live event organized by ABES will also address the mechanisms to support innovation that are already in place, in addition to presenting success stories in this area. Confirmed speakers include Rafael Wandrey, Technical Advisor at Embrapii; Alessandro Machado, Managing Partner at Cedro Capital; Daniela Grisa, Architect and Urban Planner at BNDES; Paula Faria, CEO of Necta; and Jamile Sabatini Marques, Director of Innovation and Development at ABES.
Jamile Sabatini Marques highlighted the importance of this event by stating that “Innovation is the engine that drives the sustainable development of cities.
