Program will offer exclusive consultancy for the sustainable economic development of up to 100 small and medium vehicles from all over Brazil
Applications are open until June 26th for the GNI Local Lab Brazil, Google News Initiative project to support the development of up to 100 small and medium-sized local media outlets and promote a more sustainable, professional and diversified journalistic ecosystem in the country.
The objective of the program is to train journalistic companies over a period of 10 months so that they can develop sustainably and continue producing journalistic and informative content relevant to their communities. Printed and digital vehicles, radio and television stations operating for at least 12 months and employing 2 to 100 journalists in their newsrooms can participate.

With the help of experts and consultants, the GNI Local Lab will do an in-depth analysis of participating media websites — both from a performance and monetization point of view — and share solutions through reports, workshops and meetings.
The program is carried out in partnership with three of the most important journalistic associations in the country: National Association of Magazine Editors (ANER), National Association of Newspapers (ANJ) and Association of Digital Journalism (AJOR). In addition to the possibility of members of the entities participating in the project and mentoring the associations for the selected vehicles, the partnership will also bring to the entire news ecosystem a series of workshops focused on understanding the Brazilian reader and best practices for digital journalistic work.
In all, 100 media outlets will be selected to receive training and technical support from Google to develop their infrastructure, improve audiences and develop business strategies in the digital environment. The initiative is part of Google's efforts to support professional journalism and strengthen original local news producers.
