Rio de Janeiro club is the first in Brazil to implement the platform

Clube de Regatas do Flamengo took another step in the professionalization of its management by implementing the SAP Ariba platform, marking its position as a pioneer in the Brazilian football scene. In partnership with NTT DATA, the 8th largest technology company in the world, the club is revolutionizing its supply management area, aligning itself with the best market practices and adopting an innovative, transparent and traceable approach.

This initiative demonstrates the club's commitment to constantly seeking excellence and improving its management. With SAP Ariba, Flamengo will be able to optimize its purchasing processes, reducing costs and freeing up resources for more strategic activities. “The automation of purchasing processes, driven by the new system’s intelligent analytics, will not only increase efficiency, but also provide a complete view of the club’s spending, enabling more effective decisions about resource allocation and reducing supply chain risks.” , explains Guilherme Mairene, Business Unit Director of Consulting at NTT DATA.

SAP Ariba's comprehensive capabilities enable strategic procurement management from request to payment, including strategic sourcing, e-procurement, contract management, and electronic catalogs. Furthermore, the platform facilitates supplier management, allowing you to find, qualify and collaborate with them to optimize the supply chain. Automating invoice processing, along with detailed spend analysis, offers valuable insights for effective financial management.

Marcela Mello, Flamengo's CBS Manager, highlights that “since 2019 we have been looking for a robust tool like SAP Ariba to professionalize the club's supply area. Today, we have more transparency and traceability. This way, we gain in process control, since all steps run on the platform. Additionally, we launch fairer competitions as the solution connects millions of trading partners around the world to the SAP Business Network to enable direct, intelligent connections that redefine the way organizations communicate and get work done.”

Since 2018, Flamengo has used SAP management systems. However, in March 2023, the club went a step further by moving to the RISE with SAP offering, which includes the next-generation ERP SAP S/4HANA, which already supported the supply management team. In 2022, 8368 department processes ran on the SAP platform. In 2023, the number jumped to 11,169, an increase of 33%.

Simone Souza, the club's SAP analyst, highlights that “this is the third SAP project that we have carried out together with NTT DATA. It is an excellent partnership, with a lot of proactivity and support. This collaboration between Flamengo, NTT DATA and SAP has been fundamental in driving the modernization and operational efficiency of the club.”
