The online event, which takes place between the 9th and 19th of August, will feature the participation of around 50 professionals from the 3rd Sector, Commercial Institutions, Communities and Public Sector to debate and propose solutions for digital inclusion.
A non-commercial, international cooperation network formed by professionals who have collaborated to unleash people's true potential and accelerate the path to digital inclusion. In summary, this is the purpose of the Digital Inclusion Summit – Inclusive Voices, a movement in favor of reducing inequality and the digital divide, which will be carried out in a online, through Zoom platform, between the days August 9 and 19, 2021 .
will be 8 days of event, with two-hour panels, gathering 47 institutions of Brazil it's from Portugal, with great representation within the following thematic areas: Financing, Democratization, Infrastructure and Access, Security and Privacy, employability, Methodology and Tools and Programming Teaching. The idea is that, through an alliance between the third sector, communities and the public and private sectors, digital inclusion can be discussed as a catalyst for a more inclusive and fair society and economy.
representing the Brazil, Digital Country , a social and non-partisan initiative dedicated to promoting a more digital and less unequal Brazil through the mobilization of people and organizations interested in thinking about the country from the perspective of digital and inclusive transformation, Fabio Rua, co-founder of the movement, will participate in the panel 4 – Connectivity, Security & Privacy and Digital Democratization, on August 12, from 2 pm to 4 pm.
the event is open to the public and the free registration can be performed directly on the event website, https://www.vozesinclusivas.org, with limited spots .
Digital Abyss – Data collected by the Summit organization extracted from reports from international organizations such as UN, Unicef and UNESCO demonstrate a real digital abyss on the planet. The numbers indicate, for example, that 46% of the world population and 31% of school-age children do not have access to the Internet.
Already in brazilian scene, the situation is alarming. Of public school students, 39% do not have computer, While 69% of those excluded from the digital world during the Covid-19 pandemic are black, brown and indigenous .
“The digital divide has further intensified its already exclusionary pace of 10 years ago. There is an urgency for concrete actions today, not in 5, 10 or 30 years. For those who are excluded, every second can make a difference. That's why it takes less discussion, reflection, and more integration and action”, says Renato Peixoto, creator of the Inclusive Voices movement and producer of the Digital Inclusion Summit 2021.
He completes, noting that “the 2021 Digital Inclusion Summit is an event that seeks to promote diverse, plural, representative voices that relate to the different themes of digital inclusion. Integration is the only way to scale impact in the present.”
For Fabio Rua, the Summit will provide space for citizens and entities to dialogue and think together about transformation. “The event will be an opportunity to shed light on the numerous initiatives, their impacts and mobilization capacity, so that society can identify causes to embrace and realities to impact and transform”, concludes the co-founder of Brazil, País Digital.
