THE Trend Micro, one of the leading companies in cybersecurity solutions, has just announced the Fast Facts report with an analysis of the global scenario of digital threats from January to December 2021. The report shows that Brazil is the country that sends the most threats of extortion and sextortion. sextorsion), which is sexual blackmail. Threats via email
Considering email threats, the United States was the top country attacked throughout 2021, with 32.6% of the total. It was followed, in December, by China, India and Germany. France took fifth place, leaving out Russia which had appeared in the top five targets in November.

Most attacked sectors
The banking, healthcare and government sectors took turns leading the attacks throughout the year, closing 2021 with the government in the lead, followed by healthcare, transport, industry and financial markets. In the Americas, the health area was the most targeted, although in the Brazil the main target remains the governmental.

Covid-19 as bait
Most threats that use the Covid-19 theme are carried out via emails. A significant drop was observed from May to June, but in August it rose again. In December, the threat was still active, with more than 600,000 records.

The “Fast Facts” report is released by the Trend Micro research team with monthly updates on the threat landscape, based on the solution Trend Micro Smart Protection Network (SPN), which analyzes the data security infrastructure.
