Partners join forces to enable desktop as a service in a simple and secure way, enabling productive work from anywhere

Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: CTXS) and Google Cloud are expanding the strategic partnership to deliver the future of hybrid working to enterprise customers. The companies announced a new collaboration that will include Citrix launching a Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS) offering on the Google Cloud. The service will leverage Citrix's industry-leading HDX protocol and management plan to enable the delivery of virtualized applications and desktops on the Google Cloud. The expanded partnership will enable distributed and hybrid workers to securely access the tools and information they need to drive engagement and productivity, wherever they are.

“Companies are no longer debating whether or not to embrace teleworking, but how quickly and efficiently they can do it,” said Tim Minahan, executive vice president of Business Strategy at Citrix. "Through this partnership with Google Cloud, we will help customers accelerate and adopt hybrid working models with new virtual desktop services on Google Cloud's global and secure network."

Under the terms of an expanded agreement:

  • Citrix will become Google Cloud's preferred and strategic virtual desktop services partner
  • Google will become a preferred and strategic partner for Citrix
  • Citrix will build a foundation of its cloud services on the Google Cloud, starting with a management plan developed by Citrix that will allow cloud-hosted desktops to stream any application to any endpoint device.

“For teams to thrive in a distributed environment, they need easy, fast and secure access to applications and workspaces from virtually anywhere,” said Kevin Ichhpurani, corporate vice president, Global Ecosystem, Google Cloud. "We are excited to partner with Citrix to help organizations support long-term teleworking with low latency and reliable access to desktops and applications across all types of devices, endpoints and work environments."

This announcement builds on years of close collaboration between Citrix and Google Cloud. Customers like Telecom Italia are ready to capitalize on it.

“Telecom Italia (TIM) is always interested in identifying the most advanced solutions available on the market to further improve its services. Of course, Google Cloud and Citrix know how to leverage technology,” says Mauro Maccagnani, director of Digital Business Solutions at Telecom Italia. "Citrix technology is effectively plug-and-play on the Google Cloud, and you can set it up very easily."
