With a growing range of public services offered online, the Brazilian federal government entered, in 2020, the top 20 governments with the best performance in the index of digital public services in the world, according to the United Nations (UN).
If the Brazilian digital transformation advances at the federal level, it is necessary to take these changes to the state and municipal levels and, above all, to continue advancing in an integrated manner. In this context, startups play an important role in generating innovations, but they still need to overcome some obstacles.
Law No. 14.129/2021, called the Digital Government Law, was recently enacted and has the role of defining rules, encouraging and providing legal certainty for hiring startups and public purchases of new technologies by public bodies.
To debate this scenario, ABES will promote the Happy Hour with BrazilLab: The Importance of Startups in Digital Transformation, with Guilherme Dominguez, Co-founder and CEO of BrazilLAB, the first innovation hub that connects startups and government. He is also founder and Executive Director of ILDD – Institute for Studies in Leadership, Law and Development. The virtual event will take place on June 23, at 5 pm, with free registration here.
BrazilLab has a wide network of investors and partners in order to encourage innovation in public management through events open to the public, an acceleration program and connecting entrepreneurs with public leaders. In addition, it actively participates in the impact entrepreneurship ecosystem. It is an ABES partner in the Startup Internship Program.
The moderation of this event will be conducted by Ana Carolina da Motta, Head of Public Policy AWS, Brazil and coordinator of the ABES Public Procurement Committee. Rodolfo Fücher, President of the association, will welcome the participants.
