Despite the growth in total emissions, there was a 29.9% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions compared to 2020.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><strong>Positive water:<\/strong>\u00a0The company has already provided access to clean water and sanitation for more than 1.5 million people and is on track to replenish more water than it consumes globally. New data center projects eliminate the use of municipal water for cooling, saving more than 125 million liters per facility per year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><strong>Zero waste:<\/strong>\u00a0the target of diverting 75% of construction and demolition waste was exceeded six years ahead of schedule, reaching 85% in FY24. The reuse and recycling rate of servers and components reached 90.9%.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><strong>Ecosystem protection:<\/strong>\u00a0The goal of protecting more land than Microsoft uses was reached in 2022 and has already been exceeded by more than 40%.
