The call will finance internationally competitive, medium and long-term research projects to be carried out by teams of researchers from research institutes and universities or higher education institutions, in partnership with government agencies and, whenever possible, involving companies or non-governmental organizations.<\/p>\n<p>\tThe selected projects will be articulated in Problem-Oriented Research Centers in S\u00e3o Paulo (NPOP-SP) and must be conducted by qualified teams with extensive experience in international research, clear and effective governance, review mechanisms throughout their execution period. and well-defined intermediate success goals.<\/p>\n<p>\tProposals must clearly define what problems will be addressed by the proposed research and what social or economic benefits are expected. The call is open to topics and areas of:<\/p>\n<p>\t\u2022 Health.<br \/>\n\t\u2022 Energy for Development: energy efficiency.<br \/>\n\t\u2022 Agriculture and Supply.<br \/>\n\t\u2022 Advanced Manufacturing and Advanced Materials.<br \/>\n\t\u2022 Smart Cities and Public Safety.<br \/>\n\t\u2022 Environmental Conservation and Sustainability: research inspired by the international model of Synthesis Centers.<\/p>\n<p>\tThe call will mobilize R$ 400 million because the total amount offered by FAPESP in the call, which is R$ 100 million, is added to the requirement of co-financing in an equal amount by the partner entity that is willing to apply the results and another R$ 200 million in the form of an economic counterpart from the host institutions. Resources must be applied over 5 years. The amount requested from FAPESP in each proposal must refer to the resources required for the 5 years of the NPOP-SP and may be, in each year, up to R$ 2 million.<\/p>\n<p>\tFAPESP will select up to 12 proposals.<\/p>\n<p>\tIn the proposals, it is essential to clearly define ambitious, viable and well-defined objectives in the scope of research oriented to problems with very specific social and\/or economic impact. Proposals must clearly describe which public challenges and problems of interest to the partner organization (government and, potentially, company or third sector), relevant to strategic objectives for the development of the state of S\u00e3o Paulo, which will be solved or avoided with use of the expected results of the proposed research.<\/p>\n<p>\tThe S\u00e3o Paulo State Government Secretariats associated with this call for proposals will announce on their websites on the world wide web details related to the challenges listed in section 3 of the call, within 15 days after the announcement of the call for proposals.<\/p>\n<p>\tEach NPOP-SP proposal must present at least three main researchers, and at least one of them must be linked to a research institute (public or private, as long as it is qualified by FAPESP) in the State of S\u00e3o Paulo.
