\n\tThe Brazilian Agency for Industrial Development (ABDI) launched the Diaspora Brazil Network, a connection platform that will integrate Brazilian professionals residing abroad and connect them to the country.
\n\tThe objective of the project is to map opportunities for the transfer of knowledge, technologies and know-how. \u201cExpatriate professionals increasingly become transforming agents in their countries of origin, as they provide the return of important capital, intellectual expertise and differentiated knowledge for the generation of business opportunities and projects. All of this impacts local markets with the introduction of new technologies, products, services, processes, incentives for innovation and strengthening of competitiveness\u201d, explains Eduardo Rezende, technical coordinator of Rede Diaspora Brasil.
\n\tWorking with expatriate networks has aroused the interest of several governments in structuring policies aimed at their diasporas around the world. \u201cIt is a recognition of the role that specific groups of expatriates can play in their countries of origin without the need for permanent physical return\u201d, adds Lanna Dioum, who also works in the development of the project within ABDI.
\n\tThrough the virtual platform and a calendar of meetings, the Diaspora Brasil Network will stimulate the generation of business and cooperation in knowledge and technology-intensive areas, support the internationalization of companies in sectors with high technological content, connect the diaspora with strategic programs Brazilians, provoke, stimulate, promote and disseminate new forms and possibilities of innovation for competitiveness and provide subsidies for the formulation of public policies.
\n\t\u201cIn addition to the discussions, the expectation is that the Diaspora Brazil Network initiative can support the internationalization process of Brazilian technology companies, assist in attracting research and development investments to Brazil and subsidize, with international information, the development of strategic projects in Brazil. Members of the technology diaspora will be able to act as mentors for Brazilian companies in the United States and other countries. They will also be able to convey relevant information about Brazil to managers of US corporations looking for opportunities to locate global research and development investments. For that, we need to provide these professionals with updated and qualified information about Brazil\u201d, concludes the manager of ABDI's International Area, Roberto Alvarez.
