The Pact encourages companies to advance the\u00a0<a title=\"https:\/\/www.sas.com\/sas\/whitepapers\/a-comprehensive-approach-to-trustworthy-ai-governance.html\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sas.com\/sas\/whitepapers\/a-comprehensive-approach-to-trustworthy-ai-governance.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"0\">AI governance<\/a>, identifying high-risk artificial intelligence systems and promoting AI literacy, which are requirements of the law.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>According to Reggie Townsend, vice president of data ethics at SAS, these efforts align with the company&#039;s commitment to\u00a0<a title=\"https:\/\/www.sas.com\/en_us\/company-information\/innovation\/responsible-innovation.html\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sas.com\/en_us\/company-information\/innovation\/responsible-innovation.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"1\">responsible innovation<\/a> and are already well underway.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a data and AI company with nearly 50 years of experience, SAS has already grappled with the ethical implications of many powerful technologies,\u201d said Townsend. \u201cOur experience, culture and technology have enabled us to move quickly toward compliance with AI regulations. We look forward to collaborating with organizations that share this commitment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Collaborating to help shape the future of trustworthy AI<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>AI Pact signatories will provide updates on their progress and can test and share solutions with the broader community to spread best practices and build trust in AI systems. This collaborative effort reflects SAS\u2019s approach to artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n<p>Across the globe, SAS works with like-minded regulators, policymakers and companies to help shape AI laws and policies, including consulting with the European Union and its member states to inform policy and legislative processes related to Trustworthy AI. This includes working with the Swedish Institute for Standards (SIS) to develop harmonized standards for the EU AI Pact.<\/p>\n<p>In the U.S., SAS collaborates with other like-minded organizations, including the AI Safety Institute Consortium at the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST); EqualAI; the Business Roundtable; and other groups.
