Technological Radar Series will deal with emerging technologies that affect the protection of personal data (Image: Ascom\/ANPD).<\/p><\/div>\n

National Data Protection Authority (ANPD) launches today (29) a series of technical publications called Technological Radar. The first edition deals with smart cities (<\/span>smart cities<\/span><\/em>), urban spaces characterized by the extensive use of technology and data to improve quality of life, urban efficiency and sustainability.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Now available on\u00a0ANPD portal<\/a>, the first volume surveys the main concepts related to smart cities and presents the potential benefits. At the same time, it raises some concerns, mainly regarding the privacy and security of personal data. It also provides a brief analysis of the Brazilian context of smart cities and, finally, discusses future perspectives, particularly from the point of view of technological evolution.<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

The theme was chosen due to its relevance in the areas of privacy and cybersecurity. The high interaction between people and machines tends to consolidate the importance of establishing an institutional apparatus that is capable of enforcing data protection legislation.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In this context, it is important to highlight the relevance of the ANPD's role and participation in the evolutionary process of Brazilian smart cities, whether through guiding conduct or through the implementation and enforcement of data protection legislation. Through the series, the ANPD shows that it is attentive to technological developments and their possible impact on the protection of personal data.<\/span><\/p>\n

Technological Radar<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n

The Technological Radar is a series of ANPD publications that aim to take approaches to emerging technologies that will impact or are already impacting the national and international scenario of personal data protection. For each topic, the main concepts, potential and future perspectives are addressed, always with an emphasis on the Brazilian context.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
