\n\tLocated in the interior of S\u00e3o Paulo, the initiative already has a pilot project aimed at innovation and contributes to the training of professionals in the area<\/div>\n

\n\tQualcomm Technologies, a subsidiary of Qualcomm Servi\u00e7os de Telecomunica\u00e7\u00f5es Ltda., announced on September 18, 2018 the inauguration of Qualcomm\u00ae IoT Reference Center, its first Internet of Things Reference Center in Brazil. Facens (Faculty of Engineering, Technology in Digital Games and Architecture and Urbanism of Sorocaba \u2013 SP) and CPqD were the institutions selected to collaborate with the project, which aims to contribute to innovation in the country.
\n\t 
\n\tThe Reference Center is located within the Facens Smart Campus and will be supported by CPqD in its first pilot project, focused on improving public safety. The initiative will monitor vehicles through the use of embedded computer vision and wireless networks for IoT.
\n\t 
\n\tRafael Steinhauser, Senior Vice President of Qualcomm Servi\u00e7os de Telecomunica\u00e7\u00f5es Ltda. and President of Qualcomm for Latin America, explains the importance of the Reference Center. \u201cThe Internet of Things has enormous potential in Brazil. The Qualcomm IoT Reference Center is a platform for dialogue between different actors linked to technology, such as manufacturers, developers and public managers, and will contribute to the training of professionals involved in IoT projects and businesses\u201d, he says.

\n\tFor Antonio Beldi, president of the Superior Council of ACRTS, which maintains Facens, \u201cthe creation of this Reference Center, together with Qualcomm Servi\u00e7os de Telecomunica\u00e7\u00f5es and CPqD, will certainly be a milestone for the creation of the Internet of Things business ecosystem in the country \u201d, he says.

\n\tAccording to Sebasti\u00e3o Sah\u00e3o J\u00fanior, president of CPqD, \u201cthe Internet of Things boosts the Brazilian economy with the addition of new technologies that improve the population's quality of life, especially when applied to the urban environment. The CPqD increasingly assumes the role of protagonist of this revolution in the country; we were honored to have helped Brazil prepare the National IoT Plan and we are developing numerous IoT solutions together with the national industry. With this strategic partnership with Qualcomm Servi\u00e7os de Telecomunica\u00e7\u00f5es, a Qualcomm Incorporated company, recognized global leader, and with Facens, an important organization for the training of labor for this new economy, CPqD will strongly contribute to the process of digital transformation of the society.".

\n\t\u201cIn 2015, we inaugurated the first smart campus in Brazil, and today this living laboratory for the development and testing of solutions aimed at smart cities is recognized and awarded internationally. Now, we have been chosen by Qualcomm Servi\u00e7os de Telecomunica\u00e7\u00f5es to be part of a pioneering initiative. In addition to being honored, we are confident that we will also make history in Brazil and abroad, with the creation of solutions that will transform cities and that will show all Qualcomm\u00ae technology\u201d, says Regiane Relva Romano, coordinator of the Smart Campus at Facens.

\n\tIn addition to supporting the development of innovative technological solutions, the Qualcomm IoT Reference Center will also offer training and, among its first projects, will present the concept of smart cities and their benefits to public managers interested in initiatives related to IoT. \u201cThe idea is to mobilize everyone and train the workforce to work with the internet of things and other disruptive technologies. We have in mind the National IoT Plan, which foresees that the application of Internet of Things technologies can generate an economic impact of US$ 50 to 200 billion per year until 2025, which represents about 10% of the country's GDP\u201d, says Jos\u00e9 Palazzi, Qualcomm Sales Director for Latin America

\n\tThe Qualcomm IoT Reference Center operates on the Facens campus, on Senador Jos\u00e9 Erm\u00edrio de Moraes Highway, 1425 \u2013 Castelinho km 1.5 \u2013 Alto da Boa Vista \u2013 Sorocaba\/SP and has a team of managers, engineers, interns and monitors who work in an integrated manner with Qualcomm Servi\u00e7os de Telecomunica\u00e7\u00f5es professionals in the preparation of demonstrations of the company's technologies in IoT applications, including smart cities, Industrial IoT, smart homes and smart users.<\/div>\n
