There are 12,300 companies, with an average revenue of R$ 1,255 million, more than 16,000 entrepreneurs and approximately 47,000 employees. These numbers were taken from the <a href=\"https:\/\/eur01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.acate.com.br%2Fobservatorio&amp;data=02%7C01%7C%7C0aa66b79427f48675deb08d5eb298793%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C636673486127750511&amp;sdata=WapwuLt8xgX3%2FcyjvArliBYwt%2F78DZTDyaIMOKh4ZAw%3D&amp;reserved=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ACATE Observatory \u2014 Panorama 2018<\/a>, a study by the Santa Catarina Technology Association (ACATE) in partnership with Neoway, launched last Wednesday (11) during the re-appointment ceremony of the entity&#039;s current board of directors for the next two years.<br \/>\n\t&nbsp;<br \/>\n\tAccording to the Association&#039;s president, Daniel Leipnitz, the ACATE Observatory was created to be an environment that gathers up-to-date information and data, as well as future studies and sectoral analyses. Panorama 2018, as the first study, seeks to present the positioning of Santa Catarina&#039;s technological centers in relation to others in Brazil. \u201cWe want to make up-to-date high-level data on the technology sector available to society and with these numbers help to guide public policies to improve the sector, seeking even more innovation,\u201d explains Leipnitz. The project has the support and cooperation of the Federation of Industries of the State of Santa Catarina (FIESC), with information sharing between the institutions and their sectoral observatories, and will have a physical space at the ACATE Innovation Center \u2014 Primavera, in Florian\u00f3polis (SC). ).<br \/>\n\t&nbsp;<br \/>\n\t<strong>Santa Catarina&#039;s innovative ecosystem<\/strong><br \/>\n\t&nbsp;<br \/>\n\tWhen ACATE was founded, in 1986, there were 129 companies in the segment in SC \u2014 that is, the growth of the sector was almost 10.000% in just over 30 years. Today the state is the third largest in Brazil in terms of employee density (relation between the number of people working in the technology sector per 100,000 inhabitants), second only to Amazonas and the Federal District. In average revenue, it occupies the fourth position.<br \/>\n\t&nbsp;<br \/>\n\tBetween 2015 and 2017, the number of technology companies in Santa Catarina rose 3,42%. This growth was mainly driven by the Serrana and Oeste regions, which had an increase of 10.44% and 4.75% in the number of companies, respectively.<br \/>\n\t&nbsp;<br \/>\n\tThe largest technological hub in the state is Greater Florian\u00f3polis, which also stands out nationally. With almost 4 thousand companies, its total revenue is R$ 6.4 billion and employs 16.5 thousand people. This number takes the capital of Santa Catarina to leadership in the national ranking of employee density: for every 1,000 inhabitants, 25 work in the ICT sector. In addition, it is the second Brazilian hub in terms of the density of companies per inhabitant, behind only S\u00e3o Paulo. In terms of average revenue, Florian\u00f3polis ranks fourth, with R$ 1.8 million per company.<br \/>\n\t&nbsp;<br \/>\n\tBlumenau, cradle of Santa Catarina&#039;s technology ecosystem, continues to be one of the main highlights of the State and attracting national attention. Its technology hub occupies the fifth position in the ranking of average revenue, with R$ 1.68 million. In Santa Catarina, Vale do Itaja\u00ed is the region that concentrates the second largest number of companies, with 3,300 businesses in the ICT area. It is also second in the number of entrepreneurs, with 4,300, and number of employees, with 10,300.<br \/>\n\t&nbsp;<br \/>\n\tJoinville occupies 7th place in the national ranking when analyzing the average revenue of companies, with R$ 1.2 million, ahead of large centers such as S\u00e3o Paulo. Its region, the North of Santa Catarina, has the highest percentage of female entrepreneurs in the sector, which corresponds to 30.3%. Women still represent 43.5% of the workforce, being the largest female participation in the State in the ICT area. Another highlight of the mesoregion is the proportion of entrepreneurs with higher education \u2014 67.7%, the highest in Santa Catarina.<br \/>\n\t&nbsp;<br \/>\n\tIn the West region, there are 1,200 companies, which have a turnover of R$ 1.2 billion and employ 4,600 people. The technological hub of the Serrana region has R$ 481 million in revenue, has 392 entrepreneurs and 336 companies. Three thousand people work in the technology sector in Serra.<br \/>\n\t&nbsp;<br \/>\n\tWith just over 1,000 entrepreneurs in the sector, the southern region of Santa Catarina is also consolidating itself as a technological hub. There are 948 technology companies, which have a turnover of R$ 857 million and have around 3 thousand employees.<br \/>\n\t&nbsp;<br \/>\n\tThe Observatory&#039;s 2018 Panorama also shows that companies associated with ACATE perform better, generate more jobs and grow more than the state average. Together, they earn R$ 10.27 billion, representing approximately 3.2% of Santa Catarina&#039;s economy. Average revenue is almost 10 times higher: R$ 12.46 million among associates and R$ 1.26 million for other companies.<br \/>\n\t&nbsp;<br \/>\n\tAccording to Leipnitz, several initiatives help associates to achieve better results. \u201cBusiness verticals, for example, are groups of technology companies in a certain market niche. In them, the union between companies, even when they are competitors, provides the exchange of experiences and the strengthening of the sector.
