O\u00a0Gartner, Inc.<\/strong>, a world leader in enterprise research and advice, announces the top 10 technology trends for government environments in 2022. Research by Gartner analysts shows opportunities that can help public sector leaders accelerate digital transformation and mitigate risk of disruption in their organizations.<\/p>\n

\u201cGovernment and public sector CIOs (Chief Information Officers) now need to sustain the momentum of digital acceleration after the initial chaos of the pandemic,\u201d says Arthur Mickoleit, Research Director at Gartner. \u201cTechnology leaders can leverage these trends to establish future-ready organizations, demonstrating how digital initiatives deliver value and meet diverse needs, support emerging workforce trends, enable efficient scaling of operations, and build a foundation of business and combinable technology.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the analysis, government IT leaders should consider the collective impact of the following 10 trends on their organizations and include them in their strategic planning for 2022 and beyond. Failure to do so risks undermining the quality of government services and the ability to deliver long-term mission value.<\/p>\n

Combined Government Enterprise (<\/strong>Composable Government Enterprise<\/em><\/strong>) \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>By 2024, more than 25% of government RFPs for mission-critical IT systems will require solution architecture and variable licensing that support a composable design approach. Composition capability allows governments to focus on citizen-centric services rather than the often-used, siled, program-centric approach. A composable organization exhibits composability in three areas \u2013 business architecture, technology, and thinking. Government CIOs must implement modern design and modularity principles to enable the transition to composite government.<\/p>\n

Adaptive Security \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>Gartner predicts that 75% of Government Information Technology leaders will be directly responsible for security outside of IT, including mission-critical technology and operating environments by 2025. The lack of ongoing awareness programs, cybersecurity practices built into organizations and robust talent acquisition teams can disrupt an organization's response to security threats. Government CIOs must address the essential human element of cybersecurity, increasing internal expertise through in-depth training programs and broad employee support through engaging awareness education.<\/p>\n

Digital Identity Ecosystems \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>Gartner predicts that by 2024, at least a third of country governments and half of the United States will offer mobile-based ID cards to their citizens. However, only a minority will be interoperable across industries and jurisdictions. The scope and challenges for digital identity are rapidly expanding as governments seek proof of identity, bringing their own identity (BYOI), ID cards, organization identity, and identity objects and ecosystems to ensure trusted access. and convenient to services.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Total Experience (TX) \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>Analysts point out that by 2023, most governments without a total experience (TX) strategy will fail to successfully transform their government services. The TX approach offers governments a way to improve talent management strategies and develop stronger digital skill sets across the organization, while improving service delivery to citizens. The lack of a TX strategy can increase service attrition, leading to the risk of service delays and poor service experiences.<\/p>\n

Anything as a Service (XaaS \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>Anything as a Service<\/strong>) \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>According to Gartner analysis, approximately 95% of new IT investments made by government agencies will be in XaaS solutions over the next three years. XaaS includes several categories of IT infrastructure and software services, including those delivered in the Cloud, as a subscription-based service.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Accelerated Modernization of Legacy Technology \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>When the pandemic began, major legacy business systems were unable to cope with the surge in demand for these services. IT executives will therefore need to make modernization an ongoing activity and not just consider it a one-time investment. Without the modernization of legacy capabilities, \u201creturn to normal\u201d initiatives will be delayed even further as COVID-19 variants continue to disrupt business globally.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Case Management as a Service (CMaaS \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>Case Management as a Service<\/strong>) \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>Case study work is a universal model in the area of government. CMaaS can create institutional agility for governments by applying business principles and practices that can replace legacy systems with modular products. Gartner predicts that by 2024, government organizations with a case management approach through composable applications and systems will implement new capabilities at least 80% faster than those without this type of technology.\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hyper automation \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>According to Gartner, 75% governments will have at least three hyper-automation initiatives launched or underway in the next three years. Hyper-automation offers more than the opportunity to efficiently deliver connected and seamless public services. It also aims to increase government effectiveness through cross-cutting initiatives that focus on the end-to-end process and not just the automation of siled tasks.\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Decision Intelligence \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>Gartner analysis indicates that by 2024, 60% of government investments in Artificial Intelligence and data analytics are aimed at directly impacting operational decisions and results in real time. Planning and decisions must be increasingly predictive and proactive, using Artificial Intelligence, Analytics, Business Intelligence and Data Science to significantly reduce cost due to late intervention. The goal is to make government service delivery responsive and timely.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Data Sharing as a Program \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>Data sharing in government is often ad hoc, driven by high-profile incidents. Rather, sharing data as a program is a systematic and scalable approach to enabling data reuse and service innovation.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gartner predicts that organizations that promote data sharing will outperform their peers on most business value metrics by 2023. This will require a cultural shift from compartmentalizing data usage to reusing data to better serve citizens.
