The goal is to reach CLM ESG maturity<\/em><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_35448\" style=\"width: 343px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-35448\" class=\"wp-image-35448\" src=\"https:\/\/abes.org.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Carolina-Marzano-2-ABES.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"333\" height=\"217\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-35448\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dr. Carolina Marzano<\/p><\/div>\n<p>CLM, a Latin American value-added distributor focused on information security, data protection, data center and cloud infrastructure, has hired Dr. Carolina Marzano as a counselor, in charge of overseeing the company&#039;s governance and compliance improvement process.<\/p>\n<p>According to Carolina, the objective is to reach ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) maturity, improving and consolidating the norms of ethics, integrity and governance, support for social action, diversity and environmental protection. The initiative is part of a broader set of actions, which included hiring a specialist in taxation and external auditing to maintain transparency in all its areas.<\/p>\n<p>With an important share of its sales to governments, the founder of CLM, Francisco Camargo, points out that it was necessary to continue the governance and compliance initiatives, which are carried out on a daily basis and in the culture of the company and its ecosystem. &#039;In 2003, we formed an external committee with resellers, the \u201cAdvisory Council on Transparency and Partnership\u201d, to point out improvements in transparency, aiming to promote fair competition through ethics. This has expanded over the years through other actions. Currently, CLM is part of the program of ABES \u2013 Brazilian Association of Software Companies \u2013 \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.umaempresaetica.org.br\/\">An Ethical Company<\/a>\u201d, being the second company to receive the certificate of full participation in Brazil,\u201d describes Camargo.<\/p>\n<p>Following the concept of \u201ctone from the top\u201d or, in free translation, \u201cthe example comes from above\u201d, Carolina will work directly with the distributor&#039;s senior management, not only to support and foster a culture of ethics and integrity in the company, but in its entire ecosystem. \u201cWhen it comes to compliance rules and programs, they need to be applied to everyone equally. CLM has to set an example for all its channels\u201d, says Carolina.<\/p>\n<p>With extensive experience in improving governance and business ethics, Carolina will review CLM&#039;s integrity program, with the aim of improving its ESG maturity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no point in having a compliance program if it is not properly communicated and taught to employees, contractors, suppliers and channels. We will make periodic communications regarding the law and ethics. The objective is to always improve the culture of ethics and integrity so that it becomes routine and employees understand the relevance of ESG maturity,&quot; says Carolina, who explains that her work will be to understand the business model, performance, with which players and analyze the risks to which CLM is directly exposed.<\/p>\n<p>Camargo stresses that this is a big step for CLM towards achieving ESG maturity. \u201cThe compliance trajectory has begun. This is a process. Our goal is to ensure that CLM not only has standards, but that they are understood by our entire ecosystem,\u201d he points out. \u201cFirst, we will make all the improvements in Brazil and, having settled here, we will expand to our branches and their ecosystems.
