{"id":33175,"date":"2021-06-07T14:05:23","date_gmt":"2021-06-07T17:05:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abes.org.br\/?p=33175"},"modified":"2021-05-31T14:08:20","modified_gmt":"2021-05-31T17:08:20","slug":"ibm-e-embrapii-colaboram-para-capacitar-mais-de-10-mil-estudantes-brasileiros-em-habilidades-tecnologicas-de-alta-demanda","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abes.org.br\/en\/ibm-e-embrapii-colaboram-para-capacitar-mais-de-10-mil-estudantes-brasileiros-em-habilidades-tecnologicas-de-alta-demanda\/","title":{"rendered":"IBM and Embrapii collaborate to train more than 10,000 Brazilian students in high-demand technological skills"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Brazilian Company for Industrial Research and Innovation (EMBRAPII) announced a strategic collaboration with IBM Brazil to provide access to courses in the\u00a0<u><a href=\"https:\/\/www-03.ibm.com\/services\/weblectures\/dlv\/Gate.wss?handler=Login&amp;action=index&amp;customer=meap&amp;offering=meai&amp;origin=us&amp;allow_login=no&amp;from=short_url\">IBM Skills Academy<\/a>\u00a0<\/u>to EMBRAPII Units (research centers) present in educational institutions. The initiative is part of EMBRAPII&#039;s \u201cTrail to the Future\u201d program, whose objective is to prepare students and professors, from technical courses to postgraduate courses, in technological careers that are highly demanded by the labor market. Over the next five years, more than 10,000 students are expected to be trained in technologies such as hybrid cloud, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, IoT and quantum computing.<\/p>\n<p>According to a report by the Brazilian Association of Information and Communication Technology Companies (Brasscom), Brazil trains 46 thousand people with a technological profile per year, but 70 thousand would be needed to meet the market&#039;s needs. Therefore, there is a deficit of 24,000 graduates in the Information Technology (IT) area each year.<\/p>\n<p>Through the IBM Skills Academy program, based on the IBM Cloud, students and faculty will have access to IBM training and certifications in various areas of technology, using content curated by the global team of researchers at IBM Research. Network faculty will also have access to IBM-led instructor training sessions to incorporate technology content into their courses. Prominent medalists, for example, from the Brazilian Mathematical Olympiad, will also be able to benefit from the model in partnership with the EMBRAPII Units.<\/p>\n<p>The courses will be virtual and free, of 75 hours each, guided by practical market demands and with curricula structured mainly in open languages. Currently, there are 26 Embrapii units, distributed in universities, federal and state institutes in Brazil.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEMBRAPII has a learning program based on real experience, in which the student works in all phases of the development of innovation projects. This collaboration with IBM \u2013 Trilhas para o Futuro Program \u2013 will leverage our actions to train young people with the skills most requested by different industries in the technological area\u201d, said Jorge Guimar\u00e3es, CEO of EMBRAPII. &quot;For sure, IBM courses will help students take their careers to the next level of technical-scientific training and will also help professors expand their knowledge and continue educating new generations of professional talent.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>The program is based on the \u201cTrain the Trainer\u201d (T3) methodology, in which IBM experts train teachers who will train students, maximizing their impact. Skills Academy&#039;s digital platform contains labs, lectures, quizzes and final exam, as well as industry use cases focused on solving real business problems.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt IBM, we believe that collaborations with the entire educational ecosystem, consisting of partners, government, educational institutions and the private sector, are fundamental to positioning Brazil on a path of growth, development and for a more egalitarian society,\u201d said Katia Vaskys , general manager of IBM Brazil. \u201cEcosystem agents, such as Embrapii and Quantum4 Innovation Solutions, which supported this initiative, are fundamental to this objective. We will help develop technical talent and future leaders who will accelerate the technology industry for the good of the country. \u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>About IBM Skills Academy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>IBM Skills Academy is a skills-based program that provides content to support the impending need for professional qualifications and training. The program focuses on emerging digital areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data science, blockchain, cloud and IoT. The IBM Skills Academy program seeks to create synergy between business and technology within universities and has reached 393 universities worldwide and, since its inception, has trained 8,500 professors and issued 21,000 digital badges.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About EMBRAPII<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>EMBRAPII is a Social Organization with a Management Contract with the Ministries of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), Education (MEC) and Health. . To facilitate development, it makes available to the business sector 65 EMBRAPII Units (distributed throughout the country) \u2013 cutting-edge research centers accredited in the innovation network.
