IFS has just announced its commitment to sustainability through a plan to improve the company's operations, enable customers to achieve their sustainability goals, as well as influence the industry as a whole to improve its responsibility to the environment. IFS 'values, culture and business model are linked to its vision to provide the best possible experience for its clients. The relationship between this vision, leading by example and providing sustainability technology are fundamental to a sustainable mentality and behavior.<\/p>\n

The multi-annual plan presents the step-by-step approach, defines the company's commitments for the next three years and brings IFS's long-term thinking about the importance of internal sustainability and its ecosystem.<\/p>\n

The approach is established around three central pillars:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Our own business<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    In line with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, IFS has identified several areas where it increases its focus for greater impact.<\/p>\n

      \n
    • education\u00a0<\/u>- the IFS Education Program already works with around 80 universities and higher education institutions worldwide. The program offers scholarships, computer equipment, as well as practical knowledge through internships and tutorials for students. Over the next three years, IFS plans to expand the program to 150 institutions worldwide.<\/li>\n
    • Carbon emissions<\/u>- in a program initiated in 2019, IFS committed to reducing its carbon footprint, in part by consolidating its properties and improving the green credentials of its properties. From mid-2019 to today, IFS reduced the square meter of its global real estate by 9.5%, has shrunk its car fleet by 86% compared to 2019 and is committing to achieving carbon neutrality by 2025.<\/li>\n
    • Philanthropy<\/u>- IFS champions and IFS Foundation partners to alleviate poverty and other social ills in rural Sri Lankan villages - Sri Lanka is home to the largest proportion of the IFS workforce. The IFS Foundation's mission is to help improve the living standards of people in the countryside, addressing aspects of health, water and sanitation, education and economics, resulting in a self-sustaining community. Corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives in Sri Lanka have already improved the lives of more than 3,000 people. IFS supports the planned expansion of the IFS Foundation to cover additional areas in remote and rural areas of Sri Lanka.<\/li>\n
    • Developing an impact mindset<\/u>: IFS is looking for ways to further accelerate the awareness and contribution of its employees to the sustainability agenda and will introduce a structure to stimulate people's mindset and guide engagement. The framework will guide how the company is enabling its employees to impact sustainability as individuals and assess how successful IFS is in engaging its workforce behind Impact Mindset.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      O\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Volunteering<\/u>\u00a0- all employees have the opportunity to invest one day of work per year to support a charitable cause of their choice. In 2023, we strive to have the equivalent of three years of work invested by our employees<\/p>\n

      O\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Employees<\/u>\u00a0- IFS raised the bar in relation to its peers in the industry in terms of diversity in the mix of employees. For example, women represent 34% of the business, above the industry average for technology<\/p>\n

      \u25aa We will continue to conduct grassroots programs, such as the IFS Education Program to promote diversity across the industry<\/p>\n

      \u25aa The health and well-being of employees remains on the rise, with a new program being launched worldwide and measured by semi-annual employee surveys<\/p>\n

      O\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Governance<\/u>\u00a0- IFS has always maintained policies on Human Rights and Anti-Slavery and will further ensure that this is not only in line with UN criteria and reports, but is also widely included in the education of its employees.<\/p>\n

      1. Our customers' business<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Increased energy efficiency:<\/u>\u00a0in March 2021, IFS launched the IFS Cloud, a unique platform that IFS customers can deploy on-site or in the cloud in a modular way, taking advantage of the latest technologies and thereby reducing unnecessary computer processing and storage. When deployed in the cloud, as in Azure, the IFS Cloud is 52-79% more energy efficient than the computing equivalents deployed in traditional data centers and the storage is 71-79% more energy efficient than the storage equivalents deployed in traditional enterprise data centers.<\/p>\n

        Sustainability technology to give back<\/u>: Recognizing the need and pressures that many customers must monitor, manage and report on their own sustainability goals and commitments, IFS is producing a new module within the IFS Cloud specifically for sustainability management. With so much information kept in the value chains that the IFS Cloud connects, this new module will be offered as a standard to all IFS Cloud customers in late 2021. IFS will donate part of the license revenue generated by the module to sustainability causes.<\/p>\n

        Innovation for sustainability<\/u>: To drive the design and delivery of additional sustainability scenarios for IFS Cloud, an annual hackathon was launched on April 21 and lasts three days, including Earth Day (Thursday, April 22). Teams from all IFS research and development (R&D) divisions, customer-facing and internal divisions are participating together with our partner ecosystem. IFS will also continue to strengthen its IFS Incubator program along the 10 principles, which are the main statements that describe how we implement sustainability at IFS at the corporate level, in our businesses and at the regional level.<\/p>\n

          \n
        1. Our industry in general<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          To raise awareness of the importance of sustainability at a macro level and help improve its own approach to sustainability, IFS will make two significant appointments, one internal in creating the position of Director of Global Sustainability (ESG) and one external when nominating Lewis Pugh as your Sustainability Ambassador. Lewis Pugh is the UN Patron of the Oceans. Pugh will influence IFS 'sustainability plan, as well as engage with the IFS ecosystem to challenge and celebrate best sustainability practices.<\/p>\n

          Commenting on his appointment, IFS Sustainability Ambassador Lewis Pugh said: \u201cWe need governments, companies and individuals to play a role in making positive changes. I am pleased to work with IFS, whose team is clearly taking the issue of sustainability seriously. Having the ability to engage with your customer and partner ecosystem presents an opportunity to have an impact at scale \u201d. He continued: \u201cClimate change is an existential threat to life on Earth. Now we need all the practice to face this crisis \u201d.<\/p>\n

          Darren Roos, IFS CEO, added: \u201cIFS takes a responsible, long-term approach to creating value for customers. When considering sustainability as an integral part of our business model, we not only capture opportunities to create value, but we can mitigate risks and remain on the path to success in our sustainability strategy.
