On the occasion, the entity will present the results of the Study on the Brazilian Software and Services Market that placed the Brazilian IT Industry in 7th place in the world ranking, with an investment of US$ 60 billion, in 2014<\/em><\/div>\n

\nTomorrow, Wednesday, August 19, ABES (Brazilian Association of Software Companies) met with members of the Parliamentary Front for Science, Technology, Research and Innovation at a breakfast where the Software market and the political trends in the Information Technology sector. On the occasion, the association will present the results of its traditional study on the Brazilian Software and Services Market, carried out with the consultancy IDC.

\nAccording to Jorge Sukarie, president of ABES, the objective of this meeting is to position deputies on the current figures for the IT sector, a major influencer of the Brazilian economy and which, according to the study, is ranked 7th in the world ranking, with an investment of US$ 60 billion, in 2014. If only considering the Software and IT Services sector, without exports, the amount totaled US$ 25.2 billion last year.<\/strong>

\nPayroll exemption<\/u><\/strong>
\n 
\nOne of the sectors that affect the ICT (Information and Communication Technology) sector, the revision of the payroll tax exemption should be one of the issues that will be addressed during this meeting. The article, discussed since the beginning of the year, reached several productive sectors, mainly Information and Communication Technology, which collected 2% of the billing for the contribution of the employees' social security and will start to pay 4.5% of the revenue.

\nThis review is still awaiting analysis by the Senate, which evaluates a republican proposal in which all sectors would have a 50% increase in their social security contribution rates and, therefore, the IT sector would move from the current 2% on billing to 3%.

\nBrazil:<\/u><\/strong> 7th largest IT market in the world and 1st in Latin America<\/strong><\/u>

\nThe study points out that Brazil is positioned in 1st place in the ranking of investments in the IT sector in Latin America, with 46% of this market which, in 2014, totaled US$ 128 billion. When considering the software market in isolation, sales reached US$ 11.2 billion last year, without exports. Services, on the other hand, registered a value of US$ 14 billion in the same period.
