After 26 years of intense negotiations and the historic signing that took place on January 17, 2026, the\u00a0Strategic Partnership Agreement Mercosur \u2013 European Union<\/b>\u00a0It is now entering its most detailed sectoral analysis phase. To discuss the direct implications, challenges, and opportunities that this treaty brings to the Brazilian IT sector, the\u00a0ABES (Brazilian Association of Software Companies)<\/b>\u00a0will hold the exclusive online event:\u00a0\u201cABES Dialogue: EU-Mercosur Agreement and the Future of the Technology Sector\u201d<\/b>.<\/p>\n

The meeting is scheduled for the day\u00a0April 29, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM<\/b>, being restricted to member companies.<\/p>\n

The relevance of the debate is reinforced by the participation of\u00a0Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency)<\/b>, a key player in the international networking of Brazilian companies. The agency's presence at the live event will allow ABES members to understand, in a practical way, how to use business intelligence tools and support programs to explore the European market under the new rules of the agreement.<\/p>\n

The signing of the agreement represents a watershed moment for Brazil's economic and political integration into the global arena. At a time of increasing international protectionism, the treaty establishes one of the largest free trade areas on the planet, integrating Mercosur into a strategic market.\u00a0450.4 million inhabitants<\/b>\u00a0and a GDP that reached\u00a0US$ 19.99 trillion in 2025<\/b>\u00a0(representing 14.11 Tbp of global GDP). For the technology sector, the agreement has the potential to attract high-quality foreign investment and accelerate integration.\u00a0software houses<\/i>\u00a0Brazilian companies are part of global value chains. However, it is clear that there are points of concern, including technical standards, intellectual property, the gradual reduction of tariffs, and the government procurement market.\u00a0<\/b>\u201c"For technology companies, understanding the intricacies of this document is not just a strategic issue, but a competitive necessity," says Andriei Gutierrez.<\/p>\n
