\n\tThe minister of Science, Technology, Innovations and Communications, Marcos Pontes, highlighted at an event on May 26, the entry into force of the decree that regulated the new Information Technology Law, the ICT Law. It reorganized the incentive model to encourage investments in Research, Development and Innovation (RD&I) by Information and Communication Technology (ICT) companies. According to Pontes, the measure preserves the Brazilian industrial park, guarantees jobs and will help reinforce the production of equipment needed to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

\t"With the preservation of this industrial park, the measure reaches more than 600 industries and guarantees more than 150,000 jobs in a strategic sector to fight the pandemic, which can meet the demand for pulmonary ventilators and other necessary supplies, reducing dependence on equipment . Several companies got together so that we have the production of this equipment in Brazil. The good news is that thanks to this incentive, we already have 12 manufacturers in the country and 4 of them with national 100% technology\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

\tPontes also announced a new investment of R$ 135 million by the Financier of Studies and Projects (Finep), a public company belonging to the MCTIC, in an economic subsidy for the development of pulmonary ventilators, components and equipment for Intensive Care Units. This equipment can either meet local demands or the excess production be destined for export.<\/p>\n

\tNational Science Olympiad<\/strong><\/p>\n

\tIn this edition, due to the new coronavirus pandemic, the first phase of the National Science Olympiad (ONC), which is part of the Science at School program, will be held 100% online. Registration for the competition starts in June and the first phase runs from 6 to 8 August. It is expected that at least 2 million students will participate in the event.
