Collection of 70 articles by experts discusses the strategic role of technology in Brazil's economic and social development
ABES – Brazilian Association of Software Companies, which aims to build a more digital and less unequal Brazil, promotes on April 3, in partnership with the Institute of Advanced Studies of the University of São Paulo (IEA/USP) the launch of the book Technology and Innovation: Connecting Public Policies and Brazil’s Competitive Growth, a collection of 70 articles produced in 2024 by researchers linked to the Think Tank – Center for Intelligence, Public Policies and Innovation at ABES. The event will be held in the IEA/USP auditorium, from 10 am to 12 pm. The event will be broadcast on ABES channel on Youtube.
The topics covered include artificial intelligence, smart cities, ESG, cybersecurity, LGPD, data economy and tax reform in the technology sector. “In a context of rapid transformations, in which technology is consolidating itself as an essential competitive advantage for the country, digital transformation is no longer a trend, it is an urgent matter. And it is up to ABES to promote specialized content such as this book, which brings together technical, political and academic voices around the same purpose, creating real bridges for sustainable and inclusive development”, highlights Andriei Gutierrez, president of ABES.
According to Jamile Sabatini Marques, Director of Development and Innovation at ABES and leader of the Think Tank, the collection is the result of a collaborative effort that arises from the dialogue between different areas of knowledge. “Our role, through the Think Tank, is precisely this: to articulate ideas and paths so that innovation becomes public policy with a positive social impact. And, more than a technical collection, the book is a call to action, proposing paths, inspiring engagement and strengthening the role of technology as an agent of social and economic transformation,” says Jamile.
During the event, which will bring together experts, academics, representatives of the public sector and business leaders, there will also be a debate panel to connect reflections to the central theme of the book, reinforcing the importance of knowledge and collaboration between government, companies and academia. “Technology is one of the main drivers of innovation, competitiveness and economic growth. We will bring to the event audience the opinions and reflections of academics and experts on trends, innovation and suggestions for public policies for the digital agenda”, explains Roseli de Deus Lopes, director of IEA/USP.
Eduardo Paranhos (leader of the Artificial Intelligence working group at ABES), Leonardo Melo Lins (member of Cetic.br – Nic.br, IEA-USP and researcher at the Think Tank) and Natália Marroni Borges (post-doctorate in AI at UFRGS and researcher at the Think Tank) have confirmed their participation in the debate. The moderation will be in charge of Rodrigo Brandão de Andrade e Silva (OIC-IEA/USP, Cetic.br – Nic.br).
