The supermarket chain adopted the Minha Gestão de Lojas App combined with the GS1 Standard 2D code, in order to improve the process of auditing product prices on the shelves

Supermercado Guanabara, located in Rio Grande do Sul, relied on solutions from TOTVS, the largest technology company in Brazil, to overcome one of the biggest challenges in its business: the divergence between the prices of products on the shelves and those registered in the systems. By implementing the Minha Gestão de Lojas App, combined with the use of 2D codes, the GS1 DataMatrix, the company reduced the financial losses caused by these price differences by more than 30%. With ten stores located in the cities of Rio Grande do Sul, Pelotas and São Lourenço, a distribution center and two production centers, the company has around 230 check outs.

“One of the biggest pain points we encounter in consumers’ daily lives is price differences when we go to the supermarket checkout. However, this problem also implies losses for the retailer, since we need to assume this divergence at the cash register. Therefore, it was essential to implement this augmented reality solution for the shelf audit processes, along with the use of GS1 DataMatrix, which guarantees greater standardization and volume of product information in the systems. We believe that by the end of the year we will have practically eliminated the divergence of data between the shelves and the systems”, says Simone Abreu, IT Manager at Supermercado Guanabara.

The My Store Management App, from TOTVS, has a price audit module with augmented reality, in which employees can scan shelves and products from their smartphones and quickly get a warning about what the prices are. incorrect or old labels. Based on this new work dynamic, Supermercado Guanabara also quadrupled productivity, reducing audit time on shelves by 70%. Employees began to inspect four sections per day, a process that previously required one day to be dedicated to one section and around 43 days to complete a complete store, whereas now a store is audited in 10 days.

“For some time now we have felt the need to innovate and take bigger steps. Therefore, we look for strategic partners in the market, in order to benefit from this investment and innovation in products, services and resources. In this project, with TOTVS and GS1, we had many gains. We were able to see employee satisfaction in carrying out activities, as it is a much faster and easier process, and the trust of our customer, who has no surprises at the time of purchase”, reinforces Simone.

For the product director of the Supermarket Retail segment at TOTVS, João Alberto Giaccomassi, it is a huge achievement to be able to observe all the practical results of this project. “Supermercado Guanabara already trusted TOTVS, making use of the company's technologies for the supermarket sector. Therefore, we needed to maintain the level of deliveries and even exceed customer expectations. Increasing employee productivity by 400% and obtaining a reduction in financial losses of 30% are excellent results, which only the use of augmented reality and the mobility of the TOTVS application could provide”, highlights Giaccomassi.
