Organized by iCities, the event will bring together experts from around the world in online sessions and netwoking rooms on December 8th and 9th

ABES (Brazilian Association of Software Companies) is an institutional supporter of Smart City Session, the first fully online global edition on smart cities, endorsed by Fira Barcelona, which will be held in Brazil on December 8 and 9, 2020. Associates and partners can register through the site with 20% discount.

The Smart City Session inaugurates a new experience in the segment. In addition to lectures by experts on topics that emerged from the pandemic crisis and will allow the planning of the year 2021, the event will have discussion rooms with guests, in which the public will be able to follow the debate and interact with the speakers and other participants in actions of business networking, matchmaking and meetings.

The event will also serve as an avant-première for the realization of the third edition of the Smart City Expo Curitiba, in 2021. This year's face-to-face edition, which was expected to gather around 10,000 people, was suspended because of the Covid-19 pandemic. “The other smart cities events around the world, also supported by Fira Barcelona, had a hybrid format between classroom and digital, given the limitations of social isolation in each country and host city. It is with pride that we take the lead in the realization of the first event in the segment that will be an interactive experience made 100% online. It will be the second largest forum on smart cities in the world, this year, behind Barcelona's Smart City World Congress ”, celebrates Beto Marcelino, founding partner and director of government relations for the Brazilian company iCities - which brought together 5,000 people in Curitiba in 2018 and 7 thousand in 2019, during two days of fair and congress with specialists from all over the world.

The Smart City Session is based on four thematic pillars related to the city scenario and post-pandemic solutions: Happiness and Well-Being; Legacy of Pandemic; Urban Space Resilience; and Governance and Economics. Among the confirmed keynotes are the expert on smart cities, Renato de Castro, ambassador of Smart Cities at the TM Forum of London and COR (Rio Operations Center), member of the board of directors of Boston's Leading Cities and Senior Volunteer Adviser in the Union International Telecommunications (ITU) - the United Nations agency for information and telecommunications; and the founder of the Mobilize Brasil portal, Ricky Ribeiro, a member of the Corporate Sustainability team at EY (Ernst & Young). Diagnosed in 2008 with a degenerative neurological disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) took away all his movements.
