Red Hat AI Platform integrates with Llama Stack to build generative AI applications and agents

Red Hat and Meta today announced a new collaboration to drive the evolution of generative artificial intelligence (gen AI) for enterprise use. The partnership began with the day-one deployment of the groundbreaking Llama 4 family of models on Red Hat AI and the high-performance vLLM inference server. Building on this momentum, Red Hat and Meta will also further align the Llama Stack and vLLM community projects to establish unified frameworks that simplify and democratize open gen AI workloads.
According to Gartner, “By 2026, more than 80% of independent software vendors (ISVs) will have embedded generative AI capabilities in their enterprise applications, up from less than 1% today.” This highlights the need for an open, interoperable foundation, which Red Hat and Meta are leading together. The collaboration between the companies directly addresses the demand for a more seamless experience for generative AI workloads across platforms, clouds and AI accelerators, especially at the crucial application programming interface (API) layer and the practical phase of AI: inference delivery.
Red Hat and Meta’s dedication to open innovation is reflected in their contributions as leading commercial supporters of foundational projects:
● Llama Stack, developed and open sourced by Meta, offers standardized building blocks and APIs to transform the entire lifecycle of generative AI applications; and
● vLLM, an open source platform with prominent contributions from Red Hat, which enables highly efficient and optimized inference for large-scale language models (LLMs), with support from day zero for Llama 4
Creating common ground and open options for gen AI applications
As part of the collaboration, Red Hat is actively contributing to the Llama Stack project, helping to advance its capabilities as a compelling choice for developers building agent-based AI applications with Red Hat AI. With Red Hat AI, Red Hat continues its commitment to supporting a variety of frameworks for building intelligent agents, including the Llama Stack, providing customers with freedom of choice and innovation. This integration aims to provide a robust and adaptable environment that accelerates the development and deployment of next-generation AI solutions, aligned with the evolution of AI agent technologies.
Unlocking the Future of AI Inference with vLLM
The vLLM project, which has already been pushing the envelope in efficiency and cost-effectiveness for open AI generation, is further strengthened by Meta’s commitment to expanding its contributions to the community. This collaboration enables vLLM to provide day-zero support for new generations of the Llama family of models, starting with Llama 4. vLLM is also part of the PyTorch ecosystem, where Meta and other contributors foster an inclusive and open tooling environment. This recognition positions vLLM at the forefront of enterprise AI generation.
