ABES is the first technology entity to support the Brazil Pact for Business Integrity
Brazilian Association of Software Companies becomes institutional supporter of the CGU Pact, reinforcing commitment to ethics and transparency in the sector
The Brazilian Association of Software Companies (ABES) is the first representative of the technology sector to support the Brazilian Pact for Business Integrity, of the Office of the Comptroller General of the Union (CGU), which aims to strengthen ethical and transparency practices in the private sector. The formalization took place with the sending of the Institutional Supporter Commitment Term, signed by its CEO, Paulo Mlliet Roque.
In addition to joining the Pact, ABES also assumed the position of institutional supporter, committing to extend the commitment to integrity to all its associates and to promote the alignment of the technology sector with high standards of compliance. Currently, the Pact brings together 222 signatory companies and another 10 institutional supporters, such as FIESP, DNIT, ANTT and IBGC.
“By institutionally supporting the Brazilian Pact for Business Integrity, we reinforce our commitment to building a technology sector where ethics and transparency are always essential values. We want to lead by example, encouraging our associates to adopt an honest and trustworthy stance,” highlights Carolina Marzano, Chief Compliance Officer at ABES.
CGU values partnership with the technology sector
According to the CGU’s Secretary of Private Integrity, Marcelo Pontes Vianna, the inclusion of an entity of the size of ABES in the group of institutional supporters represents a significant advance, especially in a strategic sector such as technology. “The inclusion of ABES as an institutional supporter of the Pact strengthens our objective of expanding corporate integrity in Brazil. The technology sector is vital to the economy, and its commitment to ethics reinforces the construction of solid and reliable governance,” he says.
Vianna also highlights that, by joining and supporting the Pact, ABES not only strengthens the image of the technology sector as committed to ethics, but also encourages more companies to follow the same path. The expectation is that, with this support, the culture of corporate integrity will expand, inspiring a more honest, safe and innovative business environment.
Coffee with Authority
As part of the agenda of initiatives to strengthen Business Integrity, ABES and CGU participated this Wednesday (13/11) in the event “Coffee with Authority”, promoted by the Brazilian Association of Institutional and Governmental Relations (Abrig) in Brasília.
Carolina Marzano, who in addition to being Chief Compliance Officer at ABES is also the leader of the multi-association initiative An Ethical Company, was part of a panel alongside Secretary Marcelo Pontes Vianna, who spoke about the CGU's development programs and the new perspective of Pro-Ética and Pacto Brasil Pela Integridade Empresarial.
“This meeting was an excellent opportunity to consolidate the beginning of the institutional partnership between ABES and CGU, with the aim of reinforcing the importance of collaboration between the Public and Private Sectors in the fight against corruption, and also highlighting the leading role of ABES, representing the Technology Sector in this scenario”, stated Marzano.
