The MDIC (Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services) states that there is no conflict between the measures.

 

Technology industry entities claim that applying new import tariffs of up to 25% on servers and data processing systems reduces the effects of Redata, a special regime created by the Lula (PT) government to encourage the installation of data centers in the country.

The reason for the industry's criticism is resolution No. 852 of Gecex (Management Committee of the Foreign Trade Chamber), an agency linked to the ministry, which set rates of 25% for the import of equipment used in data centers. The MDIC (Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services) states that there is no conflict between the measures.
