Objective of the commercial agreement is to support the value-added reseller (VAR) network with a comprehensive set of tools and services to protect against cyber threats

Ingram Micro Brasil, a subsidiary of one of the main global distributors of IT solutions and services, announces a distribution agreement in the country with The Synopsys Software Integrity Group, a recognized leader in application security. The partnership covers Synopsys' cybersecurity solutions and reinforces Ingram Micro's strategy of offering resellers and the VAR (value-added reseller) network end-to-end tools and services to protect against cyber threats.

According to the director of Security and Networks at Ingram Micro Brasil, Alexandre Nakano, the negotiation is in line with the company's plans to have robust brands in its portfolio, mainly in the digital security niche, one of the most relevant to business today. “We understand that the high volume and sharing of firmware, drivers and tools in the software and applications supply chain leads to the dissemination of open source without tracking, bringing risks to customers, users and companies”, says the executive. “Synopsys, as a leading vendor in this sector, offers static and dynamic code analysis, penetration testing and vulnerability management, helps identify security flaws and has other features that help ensure the integrity and reliability of applications in real time .”

The agreement's main objectives are to expand the presence of Synopsys Software Integrity Group across the country, supporting the VAR network with a comprehensive set of protection tools against cyber threats. “Brazil represents 60% of the Latin American market and is modernizing at an incredible pace. However, at the same time, there is an increase in the possibility of cyber attacks and the need for better solutions to protect against hackers”, explains Tom Herrmann, vice president of Global Channels and Alliances at Synopsys Software Integrity Group. “Ingram Micro, as an important security distributor in the country, will be a fundamental part of our strategy to be increasingly present locally”.

The alliance will also make it possible to offer niche resources to application developers in order to protect customers and companies that use and communicate through these programs, which are increasingly susceptible to threats. “The cybersecurity solutions market is characterized by a growing demand for advanced protection. In this scenario, Ingram Micro continues to expand the distribution of solutions for cloud security, IoT protection, privacy and compliance, security automation and user awareness”, adds Nakano.

The report "Open Source Security and Risk Analysis”, developed by the Synopsys Cybersecurity Research Center, shows, for example, that 74% of codebases harbored high-risk open source vulnerabilities between 2022 and 2023 – an increase of 54% over the period. “We are focused on application security, bringing together the best software to protect them from cyber attacks. Our platform offers customers a one-stop shop, with comprehensive resources and technologies for any need,” explains Hermann.

For seven consecutive years, Synopsys has been named a leader in the “Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Application Security Testing“. Today, it has more than 500 professional application security consultants with extensive experience and more than 4 thousand customers around the world.
