By 2027, 17% of cyberattacks will involve Generative Artificial Intelligence

Worldwide end-user spending on information security are expected to reach US$1.4 trillion in 2025, an increase of US$15.11 trillion from 2024, according to a new forecast from Gartner, Inc.. By 2024, global end-user spending on information security is estimated to reach US$183.9 billion.

“The increasingly intense threat environment, the move to the cloud, and talent shortages are pushing security to the top of the priority list, putting pressure on IT executives and CISOs to increase spending on security.” safety in their companies”, he says Shailendra Upadhyay, Gartner Analyst. “In addition, companies are currently evaluating their needs for endpoint protection (EPP) and endpoint detection and response (EDR) platforms, making adjustments to increase their operational resilience and incident response following the CrowdStrike disruption.”

The adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) continues to drive investment in security software markets, in areas such as application security, data security and privacy, and infrastructure protection. By 2025, GenAI will trigger an increase in the cybersecurity resources required to protect it, leading to an expected 15% increase in security software spending.

Since the advent of Generative AI, cybercriminals are increasingly employing tools alongside large language models (LLMs) to conduct large-scale social engineering attacks, and Gartner predicts that by 2027, 17% of cyberattacks/data breaches will involve GenAI.

As companies continue to migrate to Cloud, Gartner analysts expect an increase in cloud security solutions, with the growth of cloud-native solutions. The combined market for Cloud Access Security Brokers (CASB) and Cloud Workload Protection Platforms (CWPP) is estimated at US$$8.7 billion in 2025, compared to the forecast of US$$6.7 billion for 2024.

The global skills shortage in the cybersecurity industry is one of the main factors driving investment in the security services market (security consulting services, professional security services and managed security services), which is expected to grow faster than other segments in the area.
