– Sanofi will use the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to design, deploy, qualify and operate modular production lines at its factories in France and Singapore known as the new generation of “EVolutive Facility”

– Models available on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform will allow Sanofi to create Virtual Twins to boost the agility, reliability and performance of new Sanofi installations

– Improved agility and flexibility will allow for faster implementation of changes to keep pace with new releases across the Sanofi product portfolio

Dassault Systems and Sanofi announce partnership to optimize the production of “EVolutive Facility” (EVF – Evolutive Installations) in future state-of-the-art modular factories (future state-of-the-art modular manufacturing facilities) by Sanofi, located in France and Singapore. The alliance, which expands on its long-standing collaboration in Life Sciences and Healthcare, will leverage Virtual Twin experiences to enable more agile and flexible operations, able to keep pace with Sanofi's new product launches. portfolio.

Sanofi will leverage experience in industrial solutions “Made to Cure for BioPharma” from Dassault Systèmes based on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to design, implement, qualify and operate the modular production lines of its “Evolutionary Facilities”. The industrial plants will be able to sustainably and simultaneously manufacture up to four products, selecting the most advanced technologies also to reduce their energy consumption. The 3DEXPERIENCE platform provides a virtual environment for collaborative innovation and end-to-end data management across the entire lifecycle. This allows Sanofi to experiment with manufacturing systems under development and test its virtual operations to optimize expansion and industrialization processes even before deploying them.

“We want to improve people's lives by providing faster access to vaccines and treatments, while minimizing the environmental impacts of our activities,” says Ana Alves, Global Project Manager for Evolving Facilities and Head of the Neuville sur Saone Plant from Sanofi. “Dassault Systèmes offers the technology we need to accelerate the introduction of new products in the factory, in addition to supporting the collaborative work of our teams, strengthening the standardization of projects and the creation of new models. It will also bring resources to achieve our goal of producing multiple products at EVF on an optimized schedule, thanks to Virtual Twins technology. The 3DEXPERIENCE platform will also help us address the complexity of product lifecycle management in a highly regulated environment, always to the benefit of our patients.”

Pharmaceutical manufacturers must qualify facilities, equipment and processes prior to production to ensure safety and quality. This can take weeks or months, depending on equipment settings and process parameters for different product recipes. Virtual Twins technology allows manufacturers to standardize modules, reduce lead times and increase their production capacity for critical drugs, quickly and massively.

Through a Virtual Twin, Sanofi can visualize and simulate values, equipment and consumables that a given process demands, as well as control the entire flow and activities of modules and operators in the “salon”, which is a flexible and adaptable area , created in factories to allow manufacturers to quickly adjust their processes. Sanofi can add, remove, and replace functional elements and process steps as needed on an ongoing basis, as well as reconfigure production lines for quick changeover from one product to another. The company is also able to quickly accelerate key lifecycle activities for new modules, processes and facilities by cataloging information in product lifecycle management for data reuse and faster product changeover during the production process.

“The pandemic has made it clear that healthcare companies (BioFarma) need to be able to maximize efficiency and rapidly deliver high-quality, innovative new therapies to patients around the world,” says Claire Biot, Vice President of Science at Life & Health by Dassault Systèmes. According to her, Sanofi is responding to this challenge through next-generation modular manufacturing, capable of transforming the speed with which products reach patients. “Thanks to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, Sanofi will be even more assertive in implementing new products, with rapid increase in production speed and with simultaneous production processes for built-in flexibility. With this, ergonomics on the factory floor can be simulated and improved”, says the executive.
