Automating and isolating tasks within an application environment can be challenging for companies that aren't technologically prepared. Container management, for example, requires systems that are updated in real time, making activities faster and more efficient within companies.

During its daily work, WEG, a Brazilian multinational manufacturer of electrical and electronic equipment, with factories in 15 countries, commercial operations in 37 countries and more than 40,000 employees, which uses several Linux operating systems in its local infrastructure, noticed a sudden increase in the container-based environment.

At the same time, the company faced a major challenge: the lack of standardization and management tools for these systems. Throughout the application phases, the company found itself dependent on manual processes for approving infrastructure resources and managing Kubernetes clusters. With these flaws threatening the team's speed, efficiency, and agility, WEG began searching for a proven container management solution. "Before Ranch Primer, it took us days to create a framework. Now we can launch a new application in minutes or hours," explains Eduardo Piccoli, Solutions Architect at WEG.

By implementing solutions from SUSE, a leading open source company, such as Rancher Prime, which offers a central platform that standardizes and simplifies the management of Kubernetes clusters, as well as advanced tools to optimize resource utilization and apply consistent security policies, and also SUSE Multi-Linux Support, a fully open technology and support solution that provides security patches and maintenance updates, WEG found in SUSE a single corporate support that reduces complexity and operational costs, in addition to increasing the necessary security and compliance.

"We've seen an improvement in development productivity. Before Rancher Prime, infrastructure provisioning took days. Now, we can get a new application environment up and running in hours—over 91% faster. This gives us a true shortcut to success," reinforces Eduardo Piccoli.

Other significant results from using the two SUSE solutions include increased productivity, efficiency, and control in managing containers and resources, defining strict resource quotas in Kubernetes clusters, among others.

"WEG's journey demonstrates how open source is essential for driving innovation safely and scalably. By choosing open source technologies like SUSE solutions, WEG not only modernized its critical infrastructure but also gained technological independence and the flexibility to grow globally. This is a powerful example of how open source delivers real business value, combining enterprise robustness with freedom of choice," explains Marcos Lacerda, president of SUSE Latin America.
