Brazil now has, for the first time, an official and transparent overview of telemedicine use in the country. Saúde Digital Brasil (SDB) and Serasa Experian are launching the Digital Health Indicators Panel, the first national database with consolidated data on digital healthcare services between 2020 and 2025. Check out the full panel at the following link: https://saudedigitalbrasil.com.br/painel-de-indicadores/
According to the panel's initial results, the number of remote consultations jumped from 200,000 in 2020 to over 3.1 million in 2025, totaling almost 8 million digital consultations conducted during that period. The panel also reveals that 98% of these consultations took place via video, consolidating telemedicine as a safe, humane, and accessible practice.
Furthermore, the data from the new indicator also revealed that 72% of consultations are resolved and finalized in the digital environment, a factor that highlights the effectiveness of telemedicine. Within this same segment, 36% of consultations generate requests for patient examinations, 26% are able to issue medical certificates when necessary, 15% prescribe controlled medications, and only 6% end with referrals to another specialty or in-person doctor.
“"The creation of this panel is a historic milestone." "This represents a milestone in the maturity and credibility of the digital health market in the country. Its objective is to provide unprecedented data on the sector, giving Brazil access to a clear, validated, and secure picture of the behavior and results of digital medical care. This will equip public and private initiatives with essential information that can support investment prioritization, development, and governance of health-related projects—a sector that has grown exponentially in the last five years and for which quality information and technology are fundamental to sustaining this growth," states Carlos Pedrotti, president of Saúde Digital Brasil.
Unprecedented transparency for the healthcare ecosystem.
Developed by Serasa Experian, the dashboard was created from the processing and technical standardization of databases submitted by private companies that offer digital health services, including services provided to private and public health systems via the SUS (Brazilian Unified Health System). All anonymized data was validated by the datatech company and processed in a secure environment, without collecting sensitive information from patients, doctors, or institutions.
For Valdemir Bertolo, CEO of Serasa Experian, the creation of the dashboard inaugurates a new stage of governance and transparency in the use of data in the healthcare sector:
“The digitalization of healthcare has become a fundamental pillar for ensuring access, efficiency, and quality of care, especially in contexts that require rapid access to professionals and the expansion of services in regions with less in-person coverage. As a datatech company that works with data, technology, and analytical intelligence to optimize decision-making, we developed this dashboard to support analyses of the healthcare sector that can indicate trends in behavior and usability. This type of technological application, which transforms insights into relevant actions within the segment, is what drives us towards innovation, the democratization of healthcare in Brazil, and the construction of a better future for all.”.
Telemedicine continues to expand throughout Brazil, consolidating itself as one of the main tools for increasing access to and continuity of healthcare. The report, conceived by SDB and developed by Serasa Experian, also reveals demographic data about the tool proportional to the population of each state relative to the number of inhabitants. See below the TOP 5 regions that have conducted the most digital consultations over the last few years:

How the panel helps transform healthcare in Brazil
The Digital Health Indicators Panel consolidates guidelines on ethics, information security, interoperability, and humanization in digital care. It will allow us to understand who uses telemedicine, in which regions, which specialties are most in demand, the consultation time, and the clinical outcomes, creating a robust and technically validated picture of the sector.
According to the panel, some of the most sought-after medical specialties by Brazilians are General Practitioner, Internal Medicine (a doctor specializing in more comprehensive diagnoses and medications), and Psychiatry. Family Medicine, Gynecology, and Pediatrics, among others, are also in high demand.

Launch event
The Digital Health Indicators Panel will be officially presented to the market at an exclusive event on December 3rd, at Serasa Experian headquarters in São Paulo. The event will feature industry authorities, representatives from technology and healthcare companies, as well as government and academic leaders, in a discussion about the future of telehealth and the importance of data for data-driven public policies.
Methodology
The data in this first edition covers the period from 2020 to 2025 and was submitted in a single, anonymized batch by participating companies, following upload steps on a secure platform managed by Serasa Experian. SDB did not receive or manipulate the individual databases. Serasa Experian conducted the processing, technical validation, and standardization of the data. No sensitive data was collected, and there is no identification of companies, patients, or professionals.
