During the ABES Summit 2025, held on October 8th, Jorge Sukarie, president of Brasoftware and ABES advisor, presented a strategic overview of the software and information technology market, highlighting trends, challenges, and opportunities based on the traditional ABES Market Study. The highlight of the presentation was the launch of interactive version of the study: the ABES+, a dynamic dashboard that facilitates access and analysis of sector data.
IT Market Overview
Sukarie highlighted that the ABES Market Study, conducted by IDC and launched in 2004, already covers data from 110 countries and is widely used by governments and companies. "Our goal has always been to provide a solid basis for strategic decisions. Now, with ABES+, we're taking it a step further, democratizing access to information with greater depth and interactivity," he stated.
In 2024, global IT investment totaled US$3.7 trillion. Brazil ranks 10th in the world rankings, with US$59 billion invested. "The 13.9% growth in the Brazilian sector in 2024 demonstrates our strength, surpassing the global average of 10.8%," Sukarie emphasized. For 2025, growth of 10% is expected, maintaining a pace above the global average.
Brazilian market profile
Brazil has approximately 42,000 software companies, the majority of which are micro and small, accounting for 80% of the national market. The sectors that invest the most in IT are services and telecom (23%), followed by finance, industry, government, retail, and agribusiness. "It's important to note that Brazil leads IT investment in Latin America, with 35% of the region's total. And what's most interesting is that we're seeing a decentralization of investment, with growth in regions beyond the Southeast," noted Sukarie.
Accessible and strategic data
O interactive panel ABES+ was presented as an innovation that marks a new phase in the way we access and analyze industry data. The tool allows users to explore information from the last 21 years of the "Brazilian Software Market: Panorama and Trends" study, filtered by year, region, and sector, as well as comparative graphs. "With ABES+, we want to empower companies, policymakers, and researchers with a clear and up-to-date view of our ecosystem," he explained.
With the launch of interactive panel, which is part of the ABES+ campaign, the association reinforces its commitment to transparency, innovation, and the strengthening of the software and IT sector in Brazil. As Sukarie concluded: "Quality information is the first step towards smarter decisions and more effective policies."
