ABES announced the launch of ID Tech Committee, exclusive to members, a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening the digital identification technology market. The first meeting is scheduled for October 23, at 3 p.m., and invites representatives from associated companies to discuss the direction of this sector, which is essential for digital transformation.
The committee was created at a time of accelerated expansion of digital identity. According to Gartner, by 2026, more than 500 million smartphone users will use regularly digital identity cards to make verifiable claims—highlighting the urgency of preparing the Brazilian ecosystem for this new reality. The committee's leadership will be shared by three industry leaders: Janu Queiroz (Nuvidio), Paulo Milliet Roque (Digiforte) and Fabrício da Mota Alves (Serur).
Digital identity goes beyond people
In the universe of Internet of Things (IoT), every sensor, camera, machine or appliance also needs a unique and secure identity, usually based on digital certificates, to authenticate to networks, ensure encrypted communications, and protect the ecosystem from malicious devices. This security layer allows devices to exchange data with integrity and confidentiality, including with cloud systems.
The ID Tech Committee and its objectives
O ABES ID Tech Committee will bring together companies interested in developing and promoting solutions such as biometrics, digital certificates and secure authentication, fundamental to guaranteeing digital citizenship, combating fraud and ensuring the correct identification of people and systems — human or machine.
In addition, the committee will act in the promoting good practices, legal security and awareness of the benefits of digital identity, encouraging standardization, responsible adoption and universalization of these technologies. The goal is to contribute to an ecosystem safe, inclusive and interoperable, aligned with global best practices.
With this initiative, ABES reinforces its commitment to innovation and to building a more digital and reliable Brazil, connected and prepared for the challenges of the contemporary world.
