In addition to discussing best practices, the association intends to increase dialogue with the government on the subject
ABES – Brazilian Association of Software Companies – to achieve its purpose of building a More Digital and Less Unequal Brazil, created a new Working Group with its members to debate the Cybersecurity issue. The first meeting took place on June 9, and included executives Márcio Gonçalves, director of corporate affairs at Microsoft; and Afonso Lamounier, vice president of corporate affairs and government relations for Brazil and Latin America at SAP.
“Cybersecurity is a topic that is gaining a lot of attention and ABES is being a fertile ground to contribute and put all associates on the same page. This debate is of great importance for the sector, and not just for individual companies, because ABES represents more than 2,000 companies, both in Brazil and abroad. This is an open channel for us to discuss ideas and bring up issues and I think the goal is to increase understanding, our security in terms of cyber and our dialogue with the government on a topic that is still complex”, explains Lamounier.
“At Microsoft, we've had this concern for a few years now and we believe that this ABES initiative is extremely important because the more partners we have, the better it will be for our discussions and fostering ideas. We want to debate and bring the best practices to the market”, says Márcio Gonçalves.
The meeting is part of ABES' initiatives to discuss topics of national relevance with its members and aims to establish an important space for internal discussions and monitoring of specific regulations, engagement with stakeholders, in addition to promoting the exchange and dissemination of information among members and the most diverse segments of society.
