Recognized as one of the best in Brazil, the PPGInf program expands opportunities for researchers in science, innovation, and technology. Interested candidates should submit a research project and documentation according to the call for proposals available on the UFPR website.
There are 133 vacancies open for those wishing to enroll in the Postgraduate Program in Computer Science at UFPR (PPGInf), one of the best-rated in the country. The selection process includes master's and doctoral positions, with immediate start dates. Nationally recognized with a grade of 6 by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES), the PPGInf program accepts candidates from all undergraduate fields with a diploma recognized by the Ministry of Education (MEC).
Throughout three decades of research and knowledge production in the field of computer science, the PPGInf program has produced over 130 PhDs and 600 Masters graduates, recognized nationally and internationally. According to the program coordinator and professor in the Department of Computer Science at UFPR, Vinicius Fulber Garcia, "our faculty and students have won important awards at scientific events and competitions, reflecting the excellence of the program and the quality of the research developed.".
To apply for one of the postgraduate positions, candidates must keep their resumes updated and align their project with the program's research areas: Computational Intelligence, Information Technology, and Networks and Distributed Systems. The selection process is conducted entirely online, through the electronic form provided by UFPR. It is recommended to check the updated list of faculty members to identify available advisors.
The continuous application process, a model already adopted by several European institutions, allows candidates to submit research projects at any time during the application period, unlike traditional selection processes with fixed dates. "This flexibility makes it possible for entry to occur at the most opportune time for each candidate, balancing personal and professional commitments," emphasizes Vinicius Fulber Garcia.
Another advantage is the personalized curriculum, structured together with the advisor according to the chosen research area, with the possibility of scholarships granted through objective criteria and also on a continuous basis. Furthermore, the PPGInf values social responsibility and the use of open technologies, promoting the open dissemination of research results for the benefit of society. "Our commitment is to support research that uses computing to solve problems that are relevant from a social point of view," emphasizes Vinicius.
