LGPD: a regulatory framework in constant evolution
THE General Data Protection Law (LGPD), sanctioned in August 14, 2018, came into force on September 18, 2020, establishing clear guidelines on the processing of personal data by companies and public bodies. administrative sanctions provided for in the legislation began to be applied from August 1, 2021, marking a new phase of accountability and compliance in the country. Since then, the LGPD has been a fundamental pillar in building a culture of privacy, driving investments in data governance, information security, and transparency in digital relationships.
ANPD is now an agency: what changes?
One of the topics to be addressed is the recent Provisional Measure that transformed the National Data Protection Authority (ANPD) into an independent agency. This change represents a significant institutional advancement, granting the ANPD greater administrative and financial autonomy to oversee, regulate, and guide compliance with the LGPD. With agency status, the ANPD gains greater power to act technically and impartially, in addition to expanding its capacity for dialogue with the private sector, civil society, and international organizations.
