With concrete advances in different sectors, intelligent agents optimize internal business processes; at the same time, technology requires governance and human oversight to achieve positive results.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has gone from being a novelty to a strategic tool for optimizing business processes. This year, this technology gained a new twist: AI Workers, or intelligent agents, which go beyond traditional automation. Over time, they learn and adapt to programmed commands, performing complex tasks autonomously and in a humanized manner.

This is what the report points out “5 AI Trends That Will Redefine Business by 2025”, developed by FCamara, a Brazilian technology and innovation multinational. The material explains that the adoption of intelligent agents is already underway, but the current situation requires greater attention to governance and the strategic integration of technology into processes.

According to Joel Backschat, Technical Fellow at FCamara, the future of AI involves the interconnection of these agents, working in a network. "This approach is gaining momentum and is expected to grow even further. The idea is to have multiple agents working together, communicating with each other, and delegating tasks to one another, generating deeper experiences and greater collaboration. Comparing this concept to the functioning of neurons, a single AI Worker is just one unit. Therefore, several of them need to be connected to each other," he explains.

Technology in practice

Distrito, an innovation platform and member of the FCamara ecosystem, has already implemented this technology. The company has implemented more than five specialized AI Workers to optimize daily steps on the Distrito Íon platform. Key results achieved since 2024 include a 75% reduction in report production time and a 96% saving in the time required to adapt promotional materials, such as ads and communication pieces for different media, such as social media, email, or specific audiences. This has resulted in faster deliveries and higher-quality campaigns.

"If 2024 was the year that AIs that help with everyday tasks, such as so-called co-pilots, became more popular, the next step will be to make them truly more specialized and useful. Instead of programs that try to do a little bit of everything, we will see artificial intelligences created to solve specific tasks more quickly and accurately," says Victor Harano, Market Research Manager at Distrito.

Financial segment

Another sector that has benefited from the application of AI Workers is finance. Marcelo Maylinch, CIO of Banco Ouribank, comments on his experience: "AI Workers represent a new model of delivering value to businesses. They use AI to handle complex tasks, operating with natural language processing and in multimodal formats. An AI Worker is capable of integrating text, voice, image, and video data, as well as enabling continuous learning over time."

Backschat also highlights that companies like Johnson & Johnson and eBay use the technology to focus on drug discovery and automated marketing campaigns, respectively. "With these agents connected to each other, we can delegate more complex tasks and free up people to focus on innovation, strategy, and differentiation. It's a direct gain in productivity and organizational intelligence," he praises.

Governance and human management

Even with all the productivity gains, the use of AI Workers requires care and management. The FCamara report reveals that as AI advances in autonomy and impact, so does the responsibility of companies to establish ethical, safety, and control frameworks.

Mailson Rocha, IT Director and Head of System & Technology Innovation LATAM at Ipsos, contributes a point of emphasis to FCamara's report. "Since we began the AI process, we've been clear on two points: it's about the combination of humans and AI. We'll never have AI generating results and delivering them to the client without expert supervision. This combination is essential for the successful application of technology in business."

Ethics and sustainability

Backschat adds that adopting AI just for the sake of it isn't enough. "We must do so responsibly, creating ethical and sustainable application models. This will be the differentiator for companies that want to transform technology into a true competitive advantage."

"It's undeniable that AI Workers are revolutionizing the corporate environment, optimizing manual and operational processes, as well as providing more room for creativity in project planning. However, institutions cannot ignore the need for management to ensure ethical and safe use. Without strategy, governance, and ongoing human involvement, the risks outweigh the benefits. The role of leadership is to ensure that AI is an intelligent ally, yet always supervised and with clear objectives, defined metrics, and values at the forefront of everything," concludes Backschat.
