Banco Bmg, a pioneer in offering payroll loans in Brazil, has transformed its digital infrastructure with the support of Sensedia, a leader in API Management solutions in Latin America.
With results such as a reduction of 80% in the time spent creating and managing APIs, 87% in the time spent logging into the mobile app and the ability to process more than 2 billion requests per month, the case was presented at API Experience (APIX), one of the main business and technology events in Latin America, in São Paulo, last month.
Banco Bmg identified modernization as an opportunity to position itself ahead of the technological curve, boost its digital journey and offer an innovative experience aligned with its customers' expectations with agility and security.
“We have seen a significant increase in the number of customers and, consequently, in the complexity of operations. To sustain this growth, modernizing the technological infrastructure has become essential, as it has allowed us to grow safely and scalably, in line with market demands,” says Jadson dos Reis Vieira, IT manager at Banco Bmg.
Overcoming Legacy Challenges
Before partnering with Sensedia, Banco Bmg faced challenges related to integration, with APIs published on a legacy API Gateway – which made it difficult to create new integrations due to a lack of updates.
“We manage around 300 APIs and more than 1,600 operations with various applications that consume these integrations, making the modernization of the API Gateway a very significant process that required extreme precision and care. Because of this, the transition from one gateway to another required a meticulous operation,” explains the bank’s IT manager.
With the increase in transaction volume and new digital demands, the need for a more modern and scalable API Management platform became evident.
“The result was a complete and successful modernization of the integrations and all their dependencies, minimizing operational impacts and without interruptions to the bank’s operations,” says Fernanda Vasconcelos, IT manager for the Finance and Energy sectors at Sensedia. “The partnership demonstrates how the modernization of API infrastructure can transform a complex operational environment into a solid foundation for sustainable growth,” she concludes.
