Gartner estimates that fewer than 101% of companies currently have a secure enterprise browser
By 2028, 25% companies will expand existing secure remote access and security tools safety in endpoints implementing at least one secure enterprise browser technology (secure enterprise browser – SEB) to address specific gaps, according to the Gartner, Inc.
Threat actors often target employees with malicious attacks. phishing to steal credentials and bypass attack detection and response controls. endpoints, which requires an additional layer of visibility and control in the web browser.
“Web browsers are the primary access method for most modern enterprise applications and provide a security checkpoint independent business of endpoint", it says Max Taggett, Senior Principal Analyst at Gartner. “Security leaders can use a SEB to reduce risk and improve the digital experience.”
Currently, Gartner estimates that fewer than 101% of enterprises have adopted a SEB. Companies that rely primarily on Software as a Service (SaaS) applications, with few branch offices or cyber-physical systems to protect, need a simpler method of managing protection technology than the stacks traditional security systems. SEBs meet this need.
Additionally, SEBs enable segmented access from lightly or unmanaged end-user devices and personal devices (bring-your-own PC), where the deployment of security agents endpoint would be inappropriate for privacy or maintenance reasons.
“SEBs embed enterprise security controls directly into the native web browsing experience using a custom browser or an extension to existing browsers, rather than adding external controls on the endpoint or at the network layer,” he says Evgeny Mirolyubov, Senior Director Analyst at Gartner. “SEBs also enable targeted access to SaaS applications by tunneling directly from web browsers, minimizing the need for brokers and application tunnels.” endpoint complete.”
Companies that implement SEBs can:
– Apply enterprise security policies and gain visibility into web traffic without requiring in-line decryption, which can improve application performance and latency.
– Support the transition of legacy customer applications for delivering modern SaaS applications.
– Complement or reduce dependence on Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), Virtual Desktop Infrastructures (VDIs) and desktop as a service for companies that prioritize remote or outsourced work and the provision of Cloud.
– Increase protection capabilities antiphishing and against credential theft, such as protection against the reuse of corporate credentials on unauthorized websites or phishing, on devices where browser usage is restricted to selected SEBs.
– Improve visibility and reporting on web application usage, employee performance and behavioral analytics for lightly managed or unmanaged devices and for companies without a mature Digital Employee Experience strategy.
