SAP has named Adriana Aroulho as the new president of SAP for Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). Adriana will replace Cristina Palmaka, who is leaving SAP to serve on the boards of several companies and organizations in Latin America, among other activities. Cristina led the Latin America and Caribbean business since July 2020, after almost seven years at the helm of SAP Brazil. She leaves behind a legacy of customer-focused innovation, exceptional growth in the cloud business, and recognized leadership and impact in the area of diversity and inclusion.
Adriana will assume her new role on April 1, while Cristina will transition leadership during the first quarter of the year.
After 22 successful years at HP/HPE, Adriana joined SAP in 2017 to lead the sales area for the Digital Enterprise Platform in Brazil. Her most recent position was as president of the subsidiary, a position she held since August 2020, after serving as Chief Operations Officer (COO) for almost two years.
During her tenure, SAP Brazil consolidated its role as an example and enabler of best sustainable management practices. SAP Brazil was recognized by the +Diversidade Institute as one of the best companies in the country in LGBTQIA+ diversity and inclusion and ranked 7th in the Great Place to Work survey among companies with up to 10,000 employees – its best ever position in this ranking. The company also celebrated a record number of 31% of women holding leadership positions, almost triple the market average. Under Adriana's management, SAP Brazil became the first subsidiary in the world to produce and publish its own sustainability report, in which it reports on environmental preservation, volunteering, diversity and inclusion, and social impact.
“It is an honor to lead SAP’s business in Latin America and the Caribbean and to work with an incredibly talented team dedicated to delivering exceptional customer experiences and driving growth. SAP is uniquely positioned to support companies of all sizes in navigating the world’s most complex business challenges, including social and environmental challenges, through our continuous innovation and comprehensive suite of solutions. I am excited about the significant growth and advancements in the cloud business we have achieved in Latin America, as well as the promising future with our enterprise AI. I look forward to leveraging the excellent work done by Cristina, who has established strong and trusted relationships with our customers and partners, helping them in their digital transformation to drive efficiency and growth,” said the executive.
Adriana is widely recognized and awarded for her humanized management with a focus on innovation, diversity, inclusion and sustainability. The executive was included in Forbes magazine's list of Successful Women, received the Brazilian Leaders Award twice, promoted by LIDE, in the Technology category; and was elected IT Executive of the Year in 2023, in the Governance category by IT Fórum. She is among the 50 most transformative CEOs in Brazil, according to the consultancy HORSE. In 2024, Adriana was elected CEO of the Year in the Female category by Grupo Gestão RH.
Adriana holds a degree in Social Sciences from the University of São Paulo (USP), a specialization in Business Administration from Fundação Getúlio Vargas and an MBA in Information Technology Management from FIA (Fundação Instituto de Administração/USP). In 2015, she received the Stanford Innovation and Entrepreneurship Certificate from Stanford School of Business.
