First transaction in this format was carried out for Instituto Mano Down, in order to collect donations more easily, quickly and safely

One of the great trends of innovation in the financial market in Brazil, the Open Finance, is expected to include 4.6 million people in the credit market, according to a study by Serasa Experian. To further encourage a practical and safe financial routine for consumers wherever they are, Blip, a reference company in intelligent conversations between brands and consumers in the main messaging applications, began to integrate the Pix experience with Open Finance into the WhatsApp environment. The new feature was created in partnership with Efi Bank (formerly Gerencianet), which launched the “API Pix via Open Finance” belonging to the payment means ecosystem of the Efí Pay vertical.

The solution enables payment initiation using Pix through Open Finance technology, which has been integrated into Blip. With the API, the smart contacts company will allow its customers to authorize the payment by connecting to several banks, offering a fast, fluid experience with fewer steps.

The Central Bank initiative that allows customers to securely share their information between different authorized institutions and move their bank accounts from different platforms and not just through the bank's application or website, now also becomes a tool for transactions via chatbot.

Currently, the implementation of this new service is in phase 3, where it will be allowed payments with Pix. Soon, options will also be available for TED, transfer between accounts of the same bank and payment of slips and debits without the need to resort to the application of your financial institution. “We are happy to take this big step in the Blip Payments Ecosystem, being the first non-financial company to carry out transactional operations on WhatsApp in an Open Finance environment, using our main expertise, which are smart contacts. This will give traction to new businesses, allowing for new possibilities for financial transactions,” he says. Rodrigo Battella, Director of the Financial Services and Payments Division at Blip.

Pix Open Finance brings significant benefits, such as reduction of barriers and costs associated with traditional financial transactions, making it an even more attractive option for making payments and, in the case of Mano Down, donations. “As always in Blip's history, we want to stay at the forefront of this conversational and financial revolution, leading the way to the future of WhatsApp transactions and opening the door to a new era of business interactions and financial transactions directly through conversations. We are breaking barriers and bringing the Open Finance experience to a messaging environment, opening up a world of new possibilities for brands and consumers, without losing security and reliability”, completes Battella.

Despite the name meaning open financial system, Open Finance will not make citizens' data public. "The sharing of payment information depends on the customer's prior consent and at Blip we are working to guarantee total security via WhatsApp with actions that are in accordance with the LGPD process and the Central Bank's regulations", clarifies Paulo Kimura, Director of Information Security and IT Governance at Blip.

Pix Open Finance accelerates donations

Blip's first performance with Pix via Open Finance was a project with Mano Down Institute, institution responsible for the care of people with Down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities. Through the institution’s chatbot, “Maninho”, it is possible to make payments with Pix without the need to resort to your financial institution’s app, making the donation process to support the institute even more convenient and faster. It's technology facilitating social engagement and support for important causes.

“Initiating payments reduces friction in transactions with Pix, making the payer have a unique journey, which contributes to more sales conversion. The journey without redirection will make the experience even more fluid and with fewer steps. We believe that the evolutionary agenda of Open Finance will bring even more benefits so that innovative solutions like Blip's continue to work and for Pix's market share to grow even more”, he says Danilo Oliveira, Product Director at Efí.

Blip bets on the financial market

It is not the first time that Blip bets on the financial market. In June, the company launched the Blip Trust, a solutions hub that aims to integrate different tools that increase the security of a chatbot when it comes to the payments market. “With the premise of bringing more agility and security to transactions between customers and brands within WhatsApp, Blip Trust offers, for example, voice biometrics solutions, document validation and facial recognition”, says Battella. The company is the official WhatsApp API provider in Brazil.
